GMS Cities of the Future--
Take 5th Place out of 44 Teams at Regionals

Piezoelectricity--do you know what it is? Students in Grandview's 7th-grade Future Cities classes do, and they put it to use when designing their city of the future.

Grandview had two teams represent their Future Cities class at the regional Future Cities Competition last month. Grant Henkels, Kate Rogers, Austin Peterson, and AJ Bomar presented a city named "Cidade do Vucao". Adam Fish, Erika Whaley, Grace Hofstad, and Garrett Ryan competed with a city they named "Ville of Electricity". "Ville of Electricity" made it to the final round at Regionals and ended up placing 5th of 44 teams.

Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble Earn Superior

Both the MWHS Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble earned Superior ratings at the Region 2AA Large Group Contest Feb. 13 in Delano.

"Of course it's about the music-making and not just the rating, but I'm so very proud to be able to say that BOTH of our bands earned Superior ratings," said Director Gretchen Chilson. "Each band played very difficult music and performed it well."
