MWHS First Quarter Recognition Celebration--

"Let's Make a Deal"

Q1 Celebration A Honor Roll

 

"Let's Make a Deal" was the theme of the first quarter Celebration Assembly held at MWHS Dec. 9. Recognition was given to students in the following categories: 4.0 GPAs, 'A' honor roll, most improved GPAs, perfect attendance and the White Hawks Award (recognizing character, citizenship, improvement, kindness and/or school spirit).

Archery Elementary State Champs 

Two MWHS senior thespians had the unique opportunity to hit the "big stage" when they were chosen to take part in Chanhassen Dinner Theatre's second annual StarKids event, which was developed as a way to honor and celebrate young musical theater talent in the state's schools.

Grandview students were challenged to "Choose to be a Champion" during a flash mob at morning meeting class recently. After coming up with an idea and practicing for nearly four weeks, Mindy Barrett's sixth-grade students performed their flash mob which was presented as an anti-bullying message.

  "The Prince & the Penguin" Brings Down the House-- 

Hilltop Operetta is a Musical Tradition

Over 100 Hilltop Primary students played to full houses in "The Prince and the Penguin" on Dec. 8, 9 and 10. The Hilltop Operetta was open to all students in grades 2 through 4. A total of 112 students chose to tryout and be a part of this event which takes place every three years. 

 

 

Music of the Season--

MWHS Holiday Concert  

Music of the season and from the four corners of the globe filled the sanctuary at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Mound this past Monday as the Mound Westonka High School Choirs presented their annual Holiday Concert. Participating were the White Hawks Choir and Varsity Choir, two women's ensembles; the auditioned, mixed voice Concert Choir; and Madd Jazz, a select jazz vocal group made up of members of the Concert Choir.

Pop Singers Holiday Shows  

Archery Elementary State Champs 

Get in the holiday spirit with the Westonka Pop Singers this weekend. The Pop Singers will be joined on stage by the Pop Starz, a new 8th and 9th-grade group, as well as the Junior Pops and Mini Pops. In all, more than 70 Westonka kids will take to the stage to present a selection of traditional and contemporary holiday favorites complete with costuming, choreography, and solos.

 Hilltop's Ireland is November Feature Teacher--

Celebrating 38 Years with the District  

Archery Elementary State ChampsKathy Ireland, a third-grade teacher at Hilltop, has been selected as the Lord Fletcher's Feature Teacher for November. Kathy has been teaching for 38 years, all of them at Hilltop Primary School.   Kathy taught music at Hilltop for 12 years.  She conducted many operettas through the years. She says her favorite was "The Wizard of Oz."

The senior goalie was the reason why the White Hawks won their first eight games before falling to Irondale on Saturday. In nine games, she has a .944 save percentage and has allowed more than one goal only three times.
