MWHS Students Go Bananas for Staff--

National Education Week

Staff Appreciation week at MWHSMWHS students used National Education Week in November as an opportunity to show their appreciation for staff and teachers at the high school. Every day of the week different grade levels treated staff members to a special treat.

Westonka Students Help Kick Off the Season--
Mound Tree Lighting Ceremony

DECA Helps at Tree Lighting 

Several groups of Westonka students took part in the tree lighting ceremony in downtown Mound Nov. 17. The annual celebration kicks off the holiday season. The Westonka Pop Singers, the Mini and Junior Pops provided musical entertainment, along with some other local groups. The Westonka cheerleaders were also on hand to welcome Santa's arrival and cheer the lighting of the community Christmas tree.

Hilltop Third-Graders Learn Valuable Lesson--

One Ingredient at a Time

Hilltop Stone Soup 

Third-graders at Hilltop were proud to share the Stone Soup they made on Friday, Nov. 18. The young students gathered in the cafeteria in the afternoon to eagerly sample the soup they had put together that morning. Nearly every student finished his or her bowl and some even asked for seconds of the hearty vegetable soup.

Cheer Team Feeds Starving Children 

The MWHS Varsity Wrestling Cheerleaders spent their morning Sat, Nov. 19 packing up food for children in poverty stricken countries through the "Feed My Starving Children" organization. The girls helped package 14,256 meals designated to be sent to Libya.

The next ten weeks for the Hawkettes Dance Team will consist of drilling, turning, stretching, leaping, kicking, running, strength conditioning, and perfecting their dances.

Boys Hockey Iron Range 

Boys Hockey Opens with Trip to Iron Range--
Win & a Loss Thanksgiving Weekend

 

Boys Hockey opened the season Thanksgiving weekend with a trip to the Iron Range Fri. Nov. 25 at Virginia and Sat. Nov. 26 against Hibbing. The boys came home with a win and a loss against two top 20-ranked Northern schools.
