Referendum Election Results--All Three Questions Pass

 

Dear Westonka Parents, Students & Community Members~

 

I am happy to report that all three Westonka school-funding questions passed in yesterday's election. Our students and our community are truly winners today. Thank you so much for your ongoing support and interest in our district. I owe special thanks to the Westonka Schools staff for continually providing a quality education to Westonka students. 

 

Levy Renewal and Bond Results (unofficial):

  • Q1 (renew operating levy): 65% Yes (2,616) to 35% No (1,414)
  • Q2 ($23.3 million bond for deferred maintenance): 56% Yes (2,258) to 44% No (1,768)
  • Q3 ($6.6 million bond for improvements to the learning environment, safety and accessibility):53% Yes (2,122) to 47% No (1,898)

Our next step is to interview and select firms to oversee our maintenance projects. While some work may begin summer 2012, the large majority of the work will not happen until the summer of 2013. I will be communicating each step of the way with you as we move forward.
