In Trees We Trust--

Hilltop Tree Trust Grant

Hilltop Outdoor ClassroomOn Oct. 17 (Oct. 18 is the rain date) Westonka's Hilltop students and staff will be planting trees to create another outdoor education classroom and also to add some beauty to the property. The Tree Trust awarded Hilltop a Learning with Trees grant last school year for this project.

The Learning with Trees program helps schools around the state build outdoor learning areas on school grounds which include trees, shrubs and benches. Groups of students are led by Tree Trust staff and volunteers, and every student has the opportunity to be involved in planting a tree.
A total of 19 trees and benches will be added to Hilltop to create an outdoor classroom.

Westonka Loves a Parade!--

Homecoming 2011 Wrap-up

Homecoming ParadeWestonka Homecoming 2011 is history. The coronation of Queen Val Schoenecker and King Benny Haug kicked off the week-long celebration, which culminated with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. During the week, athletes hosted foes from neighboring communities on their home turf and students took part in class competitions and daily dress-up days.

A Few Good Whacks for WeCAN

Senate Demo Car Kevin Borg

The Student Senate had a junked car towed through the parade and raised $150 for WeCAN--

the Western Communities Action Network--by charging $1 per "whack" at the car after the parade.

Thanks go to Eddie's Auto for donating the car and to West Side Tires for towing the car in the parade.
