MWHS Homecoming 2011

MWHS Homecoming is right around the corner! As the students get ready to celebrate, everyone in town is feeling the spirit. To kick off the week there is the Coronation October 2 at 6 p.m. in the Mound Westonka High School Gym.

Students & Professor Visit GMS & MWHS
 

Chilean Students

 

Students at both Grandview Middle School and MWHS hosted a group of Chilean high school students and their professor last week. The visit, coordinated by teachers from each country, accentuated the students' similarities. MWHS families hosted the Chilean students during their stay.

"We are determined to 'Raise-the-Bar' for child nutrition in our school cafeterias," said Westonka Food & Nutrition Service Coordinator Pat Berg. Long gone are the days of a lunch line with a single choice that met obsolete nutrition guidelines established by the federal government.

Senior Girls Take on Juniors; Class of 2012 Fund Raiser
 

Powder Puff 

The annual homecoming Powder Puff game will take place on Wednesday, October 5 at Haddorff stadium on the MWHS campus. The flag football game places the senior girls versus the junior girls for a night of competition under the lights.

Nov 8 Referendum Reminder

On Nov 8, Westonka residents will be asked to vote on three ballot questions to provide additional education funding from local property taxes for Westonka Schools:

           

Question 1:  

A no-tax-increase renewal of an existing operating levy

Question 2:  

A 15-year bond to fund deferred maintenance of district buildings
Question 3:  

A 15-year bond to fund improvements to the learningenvironment

3rd at Redbird, 1st at Norwood YA, Lose to Orono at Grasshopper

 

 

Varsity Boys started the season taking 5th-place (out of 620 runners from 26 schools statewide) at St. Olaf.

Travel for One 

White Hawks started the scoring against the Hutchinson Tigers on Tues, Sept 20 with a Sander Lee corner kick that was redirected off of the head of Hunter Botts for a goal in the thirteenth-minute of play.

MWHS Volleyball traveled to Sibley East High School on Tues, Sept 20. Despite the long drive the White Hawks were pumped up and ready to play their sectional rivals.
