Morsels From the Editor
by Colleen Spiro

I missed you last week!! No, I didn't forget. I was sick in the bed with the flu! What a wonderful way to celebrate the first week of Easter! Not.

In this issue, I am sharing some of my thoughts on taking time to pray. In Personal Pondering, I write about being too busy to pray. And I share a prayer from St. Augustine. I love his prayers and reflections.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month! If you have read my book, The Third Floor Window, would you consider writing an online review of it in both Barnes and Nobles and Amazon.com? They have a place for customer reviews on the page where they sell my book. You can find the links below in the section on my book. Evidently these reviews help draw attention to the books. The more light that can be shed on the subject of sexual abuse and the more survivors and survivors' families that can be helped by my book, the better. It will only take you a few minutes! Thank you!

Please check out the Gratitude Journal. Why not submit one of your own blessings for the next issue? You can make it anonymous if you wish. And you can help remind others of their own blessings. And when we remember our blessings, we get an attitude of gratitude!

Any comments or suggestions, or submissions to the Gratitude Journal, be sure to write a Letter to the Editor.
Prayerful Quote

Each of us needs half an hour of prayer each day, except when we are busy...then we need an hour. - St. Frances de Sales
Personal Pondering
 by Colleen Spiro

I love that quote from St. Frances de Sales that I chose for The Prayerful Quote in this issue.
I remember a priest telling me once that if we are too busy to pray, then we are too busy. Sounds simple enough.
But I really have found myself too busy to pray. And I have tried to feel better by telling myself that I will just pray later. But deep down I know that I won't. I will find something else that I need to do. Or I will fall asleep!
So I am learning, most of the time, to sit myself down and pray right then and there... no matter how busy I am. When I get it into my head that I need to pray, well, that is an invitation from God. And whatever I am doing can wait, because I cannot do anything without the Lord's help anyway. After all, it is His work.
And how am I going to know if I am doing His will if I have not taken the time to listen to Him first?
The amazing thing is, if I do take the time to pray to God first, the rest of my busy-ness seems to go better. Less rough spots.
God has a way of making crooked roads straight.
Prayer of St. Augustine
by Colleen Spiro

I found this prayer of St. Augustine in the book: 201 Inspirational Stories of the Eucharist, by Sr. Patricia Proctor, OSC. I hope you find it as beautiful as I did.

O Lord Jesus, let me know myself, let me know you, and desire nothing but you alone.
Let me hate myself and love you, and do all things for the sake of you.
let me humble myself and exalt you, and think of nothing but you alone.
Let me die to myself and live in you, and take whatever happens as coming from you.
Let me forsake myself and walk after you, and ever desire to follow you.
Let me flee from myself and turn to you, that thus I may merit to be defended by you.
Let me fear for myself, let me fear you, and be among those who are chosen by you.
Let me distrust myself and trust in you, and ever obey for love of you.
Let me cleave to nothing but only to you, and ever be poor for the sake of you.
Look upon me that I may love you. Call me that I may see you and forever possess you.
Amen.
- St. Augustine
