Prayerful Morsels
Tidbits of Inspiration & Information

Morsel From the Editor
Welcome to our Holy Week edition of Prayerful Morsels.
Holy Week is my favorite week of the year. I usually attend the Triduum liturgies. The Triduum begins with Holy Thursday, continues with Good Friday and ends with the Easter Vigil. There is so much meaning and inspiration packed into these 3 days, I can hardly contain myself sometimes. Did you know that the 3 celebrations are actually considered one Mass that takes 3 days?
The last part of the Triduum is the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. It is a special anniversary for me since I am a convert and was received into the Church during the Easter Vigil about 20 years ago!
I love the symbolism of this Mass. I love the candelight part at the beginning. The church is dark and slowly lights up as the Paschal Candle is carried into the Church. Tears fill my eyes as I realize the symbolism of Jesus bringing light into the world!
Here is a link to some more detailed information on the Triduum.
Give yourself an Easter gift and attend the Triduum. Try to experience all 3 days if you can. You will be blessed by it.

Prayerful Quote
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him will never perish. - John 3:16

Personal Pondering
by Colleen Spiro
Jesus has brought so much light into my life. Using the word Triduum, here are some of the ways I have experienced the light of Christ.
T - the Triduum (that was easy)
R - Reconciliation - experiencing God's mercy is like shining a light in the dark corners of my life
I - seeing and experiencing how the impossible becomes possible with God
D - discovering that I am the beloved daughter of the Father
U - the universal church (catholic meaning universal)
U - the uplifted feeling I get when I go to Mass and to Adoration and to the Easter Vigil! (OK, I know I am stretching it with Uplifted, but can you think of another U?)
M - Jesus gave us His mother, Mary. How much He must love us!
May Jesus bring light into your life! Have a blessed Easter!

A Gratitude Journal
I gave my auto to a needy person and was lamenting to a friend about not having "wheels" to do things I want to do. Her answer - "How do you get to church?" I'm grateful for having her show me the importance that being at His table brings me love, patience, understanding and the meaning of life. Oh, and I do have "wheels" on the weekend and am grateful for His Body and Blood sustaining me. - Jeanne McGirr

There is a lot for me to be grateful for, family, friends, church family, etc. At times I feel God is not with me, but then I sit down and pray and really think about it and I realize He is always with me. We all really should believe that even when we are at our lowest. It really does help. He is a wonderful God and all you have to do is look outside at the sky, the birds, the flowers and know. Where would we be without Him? - from Colleen's Mum and sent with a lot of love.
