Morsels From the Editor
In this Issue -
I got to thinking about labels the other day. In my Personal Pondering column I share some of the labels I might give myself. Beware - I cannot guarantee that my thoughts always make sense.
In More on Spiritual Direction I give some hints on what to talk about in your meetings with your spiritual director. Even if you do not receive spiritual direction, I think you will find the suggestions helpful for other situations.
I can really relate to the Prayerful Quote in this issue. If I do not take some quiet time alone every day, I can lose touch with myself and with God.
As always, if you have any suggestions for this column or other articles, please
write a Letter to the Editor.
Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to all!
Prayerful Quote
All the troubles of life come upon us because we refuse to sit quietly for a while each day in our rooms. - Blaise Pascal (1623-62)
Personal Pondering
by Colleen Spiro
I am a Catholic. A Roman Catholic.
I am also charismatic. A Catholic charismatic.
I am also contemplative. I think. That is what I want to be. But contemplation is a gift from God. Do I have that gift?
Well, if I do, then I am a Roman Catholic Charismatic Contemplative.
Oh yeah. I am a convert, too.
A Roman Catholic Charismatic Contemplative convert.
So what is in a name? Or a title? Or a label?
I don't like labels.
I love and adore and worship Jesus Christ. I am a child of God. That is who I am. That is the label I like.

People often ask this question - What do I talk about at spiritual direction?
Here are some helpful hints:
  1. Pray before your appointment. Ask God to help you talk about what you need to talk about and to be able to listen to the Holy Spirit within.
  2. Do not make up an agenda for your spiritual direction session. Chances are the Holy Spirit has an agenda in mind already. People often say that they have no idea what they are going to talk about and then find plenty to say once they get started. And it is usually something they really needed to address.
  3. Remember that you cannot compartmentalize God. God is active in all aspects of your life, not just certain areas. So talk about your life, and what seems to be uppermost on your mind, what you are dealing with at the time. What are you feeling? Share your experiences of prayer. Speak of your relationship with God.

Don't be overly concerned about what you need to talk about. Instead, pray and trust that the Holy Spirit will guide you in the right direction.

A Gratitude Journal

I am very grateful for the gifts from the Holy Spirit. Recently, I was asked by the Holy Spirit to list the names that we call Jesus. You will be surprised as to how many names we refer to HIM!!! Blessings - Jo-Ann DeNigris

One of the signs of our times is how Catholics are coming back from other denominations. I am very thankful to God because a dear friend of mine came back. It is truly a blessing. God is happy for the one sheep that was lost and He found. I can't say in words how happy I am. The enemy attacks us everyday and he is not happy when we are trying hard to serve the Lord. Please pray for the brothers and sisters that are coming back so that they remain strong in the church of Christ. God Bless, Yuri
