To promote design excellence among members of the AIA, and foster a collaborative spirit between architects and the broader design community, the Design Committee promotes a range of activities, including design salons, exhibits, and lectures. Contact Jim Moore AIA or Daniel Toole Assoc. AIA.
The Open House committee solicits and reviews applications of architect-designed homes for regular feature publication in Northwest Home/Seattle Magazine, with an open house held on a Sunday afternoon during the month of publication. Contact Scott Becker.

Tim Crowther Assoc. AIA, a designer with Weinstein A|U, is taking part in the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer to support breast cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Support his climb here.
Roger H. Newell AIA, principal of Roger H. Newell AIA Architects has been awarded Emeritus status by the American Institute of Architects. The firm has been a member firm since 1970.

Interface Engineering and other members of The Water Team - Central City Concern, SERA Architects, and Gerding Edlen Development - won an award for the Achieving Water Independence in Buildings project from the Sustainable Buildings Industries Council.
Two Bassetti principals have recently given presentations abroad. Greg Hepp AIA, LEED AP was a keynote speaker at the Seoul National University of Technology Ninth International Housing Symposium and presenter at the Korean Ministry of Education Sustainable School Symposium. Lorne McConachie AIA gave multiple presentations in Taiwan at the 2010 Microsoft School of the Future Innovative School Forum.
Dennis DePape AIA of DePape Associates Architecture is chair of the Kenmore Downtown Taskforce which will complete its 2 years of planning activities on a Transit Oriented District adjacent to 2 large wetlands in Kenmore by June.
Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA) of Seattle, Wash., is a finalist in the American Council of Engineering Companies' 44th annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition for designing the stormwater management system for Magnuson Park in Seattle.
