Hello everyone:

Welcome to the October newsletter and the beginning of Fall!

As I prepare to send this out, I notice I am capturing the conflict contained in a Mars, Venus-Moon aspect, which is present today and tomorrow. This aspect can fuel strong opinions and even stronger reactions, keeping us stirred up. On the other hand, it may help us stand up for what is true for us.

With the upcoming elections and political season very much center stage, I was very taken with the interviews I saw with Burmese Democratic Leader, and buddhist, Aung San Suu Kyi.  I tuned in with You Tube to listen to her Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, and read several articles written by her.

I always find it inspiring to hear  world leaders speak, who are consciously aligned with their dharma (true purpose), and who

are living their life in integrity  with the philosophical beliefs they hold dear, especially in the midst

of great opposition.

I hope we all find inspiration as we come into the Season of the harvest.

Elections

2012

THE CANDIDATES

Barack Obama, President of the United States

Mitt Romney, Governor of Massachusettes

What do the Natal Charts reveal?

Barak Obama:   Charismatic, articulate.  An excellent communicator and multitasker. (Mercury trine Midheaven and Gemini Moon). Good grasp of government, policy setting, and working within larger political arena (Saturn in Capricorn).  Strong interest in foreign affairs and global issues (Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn and Aquarius respectively, Aquarius Rising, 9th house Neptune);  A supporter of women's rights, immigration, and same sex marriage (Jupiter in Aquarius trine Gemini Moon and Aquarius Ascendant).  A healthy, balanced relationship with own feminine (Venus in Cancer and Moon in 4th house).  Refined, noble and idealistic. (Saturn-Jupiter conjunction). Compassionate; a strong advocate for equal rights. (Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in 12th house and Neptune in Scorpio (9th) trine Venus in Cancer (5th). Precise with details, good mental focus. Patient and consistent towards goals. (Mars in Virgo and Saturn in Capricorn).  Committed to achieving win-win scenario, where possible. (Saturn in Capricorn trine Mars in Virgo and Aquarius Ascendant).

What stands out:  Recognizes importance of building long last international alliances. Forward thinker, seeking to put policies in place which offer security and a safety net down the road.  Intuitive with regard to the big picture.

Hidden Assets:  When the asteroids are included with BO's natal chart, two beneficial grand trines come in to place.  The first grand trine in the water element (Neptune, Chiron and Venus) reveal tremendous depth of character, compassion and strong intuition, enabling him to tune in with, and follow inner spiritual guidance.  Indicates wisdom.

The second grand trine in earth (Saturn, Mars and asteroids, Ceres (mother) and Vesta (Priestess), utilizes the very best of the 'earth' element.  Besides helping him in being down to earth, patient and practical, it also imbues him with a deep understanding of the need to provide basic quality of life services to everyone.

Mitt Romney:  Sincere and idealistic. (Jupiter-Moon  conjunction in Scorpio and Neptune in Grand trine with Venus (Aquarius) and Gemini Ascendant).  Single minded focus toward specific goals but doesn't always adjust to change easily (Saturn in 3rd house opposite Midheaven (Aquarius).  Strong advocate for what he believes in, especially with regard to community (Sun-Mercury conjunction in Pisces in 11th house, trined by Jupiter-Moon in Scorpio in 6th).  Has tremendous personal luck and knows when to take advantage of opportunities (Jupiter-Moon conjunction in Scorpio, trine Sun in Pisces (11th) and Venus on the Midheaven (Aquarius).  Strong desire for material success and respect of community (Saturn opposite Venus and career point, Midheaven).

An ongoing inner conflict involves placing a high value on moral principles, which lead him to become part of a strong faith based community, but which can be in direct challenge to a pressing need to 'find' himself and his individual voice, which may present some contradiction to the tenets of the organization aligned with (Sun-Mercury in Pisces in 11th, Saturn opposite Midheaven and Gemini Uranus in square to Sun).

What stands out:  No planets in earth. Like former  President, George W. Bush, who had very little of the 'earth' element in his natal chart, this can result in a lack of common sense, difficulty in connecting the dots with regard to the logical linear, utilizing reasoning faculties and acting appropriately within the circum-stances at hand.  This can create a question mark about competency, with regard to being able to handle a multitude of pressing tasks, all of which may require immediate, decisive action and which can sometimes carry irreversible consequences.

Who is likely to win

the Election?

President Obama's chances

The positive transits on election day

Transiting Jupiter is trine his Ascendant, sextile his Sun and progressed moon.

Uranus creates a grand trine with natal Mercury and transiting Mercury.

Transiting Saturn and Neptune trine his natal Venus (this placement is to do with allowing someone the time they need to develop their legacy)

Transiting North Node conjuncts his Midheaven, which is conveys good fortune in career

The challenging transits on election day

Transiting Saturn creates a T-square to Jupiter-Mercury opposition, which is not generally considered favorable, and which can indicate technical problems with equipment used to register votes, which can lead to questions of accuracy.

Transiting Mars squares his Mars, which indicates fluctuations and surprises as the votes come in.

Governor Romney's chances

The positive transits on election day

Transiting Jupiter is conjunct his Uranus, which is very lucky and makes him optimistic.

The transiting North Node is conjunct his Jupiter in Scorpio, which can signify tremendous good fortune.

Transiting Uranus in Aries makes a grand trine with natal Saturn and transiting Mercury, which is also considered lucky.

The challenging transits on election day

Mitt Romney's chart shows a T-square involving Mars-Uranus to his Sun on the day of the elections, which can brings unpredictable surprises.

Retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius creates a T-square in his chart - opposing his Gemini Ascedant and squaring transiting Neptune.  This indicates two things:  he may ask for a recall, because of some glitch in the gathering of votes, but it could also make difficult for him to accept defeat, so he'll hang on to the last minute to concede.

Transiting Saturn in Scorpio creates a challenging T-square to his natal Saturn-Venus opposition and Saturn-Midheaven opposition, which is not considered a favorable influence for winning.

With Mercury retrograde on election day and in a challenging configuration in the charts of both candidates, there could be technical problems with equipment set up a polling booths, leading to questions of accuracy, which could delay the overall results.

Even with Mitt Romney's extremely 'lucky' influences, I believe Barak Obama will win,  The transits in his chart  are connected with 'destiny', which makes me think that he will be able to accomplish a great deal by being in office for another term, which is in  alignment with his soul path.

    Astro Tips

 Empowerment by Rita Loyd

Note:  All times given below are PST

Oct 1:  Just coming out of an intense Full Moon combination, it might take a little to get our feet on the ground and mind focused this morning (and maybe all week!) because of feeling fatigue.  We could be influenced all day by this, so it is to your advantage to set up an easy schedule.

(Moon-Mercury opposition at 4:30 am and Moon-Saturn opposition at 3:30 pm)

Oct 2:  Energies even out today, helping with focus and stamina. There's also a positive influence supporting all aspects of relationships, and which is also great for  planning.

(Moon-Pluto trine at 6:15 am and Venus (Leo) -Saturn (Libra) sextile at 5:00 pm)

Oct 3:  There goes that focus.  You may feel spacy and ungrounded today.  This is not a high energy kind of day, but is philosophical and reflective in nature.  Good to get an early night tonight.

(Venus in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces at 3:30 pm)

Venus begins its transit through Virgo. Supports good nutritional habits and helps us keep our money in our wallets!

Oct 4:   An influence in the wee hours can disrupt the quality of sleep, leaving us feeling slow to jump into the day.  A late afternoon-early evening influence helps us feel more connected.

(Moon-Mars opposition at 12:45 am and Moon-Neptune square at 6:15 am, followed by a Moon-Venus square at 8:00 am.  Moon-Uranus sextile at 5:30 pm)

Oct 5:  An early morning influence can 'jam' our emotional circuitry, and hang around for a couple of days, which is not the most expansive influence.  However, the afternoon brings forth more optimistic placements, helping us move into the flow, and feel more connected with our feelings.

(Mercury-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio at 2:45 am; Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini at 2:00 pm, folllowed by a Mercury-Neptune trine at 3:00 pm)

Saturn moves into the sign of Scorpio today, where it will remain through December 24, 2014.  Next month's newsletter will contain an article about this.

Oct 6:  The emotionally sensitive Cancer Moon is Void all day until 5:45 pm, so you may need to slow down and allow for some emotional space for yourself. This is not a good day for high end purchases!

Many will be happy to know that Mars is leaving the emotionally intense sign of Scorpio and moving into Sagittarius today, where it will be through mid-November.  This placement can kindle desires for travel and a break from routine.

A beneficial Grand Trine in the water element comes together this evening, creating psychic sensitivity.  This combination lends itself to spiritual - sacred type activities/ceremonies and seeking quiet time for deep rest.

(Cancer Moon trines Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces 6:00 - 7:00 pm)

Oct  7:  Emotionally charged morning influences may trigger irritation and dissatisfaction.  Hide the cookie jar!  Not good aspects for participating in social activity. Later in the day, we may feel distracted, or at the very least, lacking in focus.

(Cancer Moon in T-square with Uranus and Pluto at 6:00 - 8:00 am; Mars (Sagittarius) squares Neptune (Pisces) at 7:00 pm)

Oct 8:    On this Columbus Day, a Cancer Moon is void all day and night, so we may feel we're living in our own little bubble.  A great influence comes in real late at night.  Good news for the internet surfers.

(Sun trine Jupiter at 10:55 pm)

Oct 9:   There's a potpourri of aspects today.  An early morning aspect brings our attention, upon waking, to our 'to do' list.   But by coffee time, we may be aware of a low emotional energy settling within us.  So, we've got to reach for the action oriented 'Fire' energies coming forward.  Good to get things done before early evening, for there's yet another slightly tricky mind set, possibly interfering with our good attitude and focus.

(Venus trine Pluto at 1:00 am; Leo Moon squares Saturn in Scorpio at 5:45 am. Moon trines Sagittarius Mars at 8:15 am and trines Aries Uranus at 4:30 pm; Moon squares Scorpio Mercury at 5:30 pm)

Oct 10: Penetrating mental influence today, which helps our focus and an evening influence which helps us with intuitive insights.

(Mercury (Scorpio) sextiles Pluto (Capricorn) at 12:30 am; Saturn trine Neptune at 7:45 pm)

Oct 11: Loosy goosy minor influences today can make us feel that we're out to lunch.

(Moon opposite Neptune at 1:30 pm and Moon square Mars at 6:30 pm).

Oct 12:  Gentle influences with the Moon make us super sensitive today.  We need time to reflect on our artistic inclinations!

(Virgo Moon sextiles Mercury at 6:15 and conjuncts Venus at 7:30 am)

Oct 14:  The intense aspects are mostly over before we wake up today.  If you're planning to connect socially, best to wait until early evening.

(Libra Moon comes into a T-square with Uranus and Pluto at 2:00 - 4:00 am; Moon trines Jupiter at 6:45 pm)

Oct 15:  New Moon in Libra at 5:00 am.  See Lunar Activity.  An up beat, action oriented influence, first thing this morning, helps us glide into the start of our week.  We can become psychically sensitive when the Moon enters Scorpio in the evening.  Best to choose quiet time, for we may need to 'tune in' with the feelings coming up for us.  Not a good evening to watch the news (if we tend to be brought down by it) or intense movies.

(Mars in Sagittarius trines Uranus in Aries at 3:30 am; Scorpio Moon trines Neptune at 6:00 and conjuncts Saturn at 7:00 pm)

Oct 16:  Emotionally reflective influences linger throughout the day.

(Mercury (Scorpio) sextiles Venus (Virgo); Moon sextiles Venus and conjuncts Mercury at 7:15 pm)

Oct 18:  Lots of get up and go this morning, so we'll desire some physical activity, and might feel the need to get on the road for an outing of some kind.

If you're doing your freeway commute from 5:30 - 7:30 am, keep your eyes on the road.  May be some speedsters and risktakers around.

(Sagittarius Moon trines Uranus at 3:00 am and conjuncts Mars at 6:45 am)

Oct 20:  Early morning 'moody' influences can trigger intensity and make us grouchy upon arising.

(Moon squares Uranus at 4:15 am and conjuncts Pluto at 7:00 am).

Oct 21 - 29:  We are likely to be strongly influenced by our emotions during this time period.

Oct 23:  Early morning influences can bring intuitive insights and great dreams.  Early evening influence may create ambivalence.

(Moon trine Jupiter at 2:00 am and Sun trine Neptune at 4:15 am; Aquarius Moon squares Mercury in Scorpio at 6:30 pm.

Oct 24:  Another early morning intuitive influence supports great dreams, and insights.  It may take us awhile to get all the way in our body, but we'll get there. We may feel psychically vulnerable all day.

(Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces at 4:45 am and Moon trines Scorpio Sun at 7:00 am; Moon trines Saturn at 8:00 am)

Oct 25:  We will still be asleep when an emotionally 'heavy' aspect becomes exact in the wee hours, however, we may feel this coming on for at least a day prior, and it can hang around for a few days.  At the other end of sprectrum, there's also some ungrounding influences  dearlA mid-morning influence helps bring our emotio, suggesting the need to give ourselves time to move into our day .slowlnal and energetic body into balance.

(Sun conjunct Saturn in Scorpio at 1:30 am; Pisces Moon in T-square with Mars and Jupiter 4:30 - 9:00 am; Mercury in Scorpio sextiles Venus in Virgo at 10:00 am)

Oct 26:  We may fee emotionally vulnerable, or at the very least, psychically sensitive today.  The energy shifts very late in the evening, but it can also make it difficult to get to sleep.

(Pisces Moon trines Mercury in Scorpio and opposes Venus in Virgo 7:30 - 8:00 am; Aries Moon conjuncts Uranus at 11:00 pm.)

Oct 27:  An early morning influence can challenge our mood, but shouldn't linger.  Later in the day, the wind gets behind our sail and we are ready to rock.

(Aries Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn at 2:45 am; Moon trines Mars and sextiles Jupiter 5:45 - 6:30 pm)

Oct 28:  How do we want to spend our Sunday.  As you're contemplating this question, don't be surprised if you change your mind a half a dozen times!

(Mars in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter in Gemini at 5:45 am.)

Oct 29:  Full Moon at 6 degrees of Taurus.  See Lunar Activity.

We may be visited by a a serious, somewhat somber attitude this morning, but will do our best to distance ourselves from going 'there'.

(Taurus Moon opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 5:00 am and Mercury (Sagittarius) squares Neptune (Pisces) at 10:30 am)

Oct 30:  Moon Void all day and evening.

Oct 31:  Stay fluid around your Halloween plans, for they are likely to change, including your costume of choice!  Great social influence in the evening, helps us get in the 'spirit'.

(Gemini Moon squares Neptune and opposes Mercury 12:30 - 4:00 pm; Moon trines Venus in Libra at 8:30 pm)

Lunar Activity

Oct 15:    New Moon     22 deg. Libra        5:03 am

This New Moon rides of the tails of an energetic, action-oriented Mars-Uranus trine in Fire.  We'll have things to do, places to go, and dreams to fulfill.

Oct 29:     Full Moon   6 deg. Taurus      12:49 pm

This Full Moon dances with the somber natured Saturn.  When the feelings get too intense and personal, we take our leave as quickly as possible, slipping into the nebulous folds of the most famous escape artist, a Neptune-Mercury square.

"I see nothing".
