Hello Everyone:

Here we are fast approaching the Fall.  Can you imagine cooler temperatures?  It's been quite the Summer!

This Summer began and ended for me in the company of a King snake.  At the beginning of the summer I saw a handsome, big King Snake lazing in the sun right on the steps of our deck.  He was about five feet long and bigger than a golf ball in diameter.  Then, as I was coming home from a swim in the pool the other day, I took the short cut walking through the desert and just as I reached the back yard, there was a baby King snake. He was so well camouflaged, he startled me.  I jumped up and down, like I'd been stung by a bee.  When I recovered, I had a good laugh at myself thinking what a good story this young king snake had to tell his family that night, about he was out in the desert sunbaking, minding his own business and the next thing he knew he knew, he was rudely awakend by a human jumping up and down in hysteria  nearly killing him right on the spot.

There is more to the meaning behind this story, in the newsletter.

Meanwhile, I wish you all a pleasant transition into the Fall months.  I hope you enjoy the newsletter!

This has been a summer of inner challenges and transformation for me, not unlike many of you, I imagine.

Being visited by no less than two snakes this Summer right in my own back yard certainly caught my attention.  In the yogic tradition, it's considered auspicious to see or dream about snakes, in that they represent the kundalini and the process of transformation.

After the fact, I realized that in encountering the big snake at the beginning of Summer, this was to let me know that I had some good size challenges to surmount.  Then, just recently, seeing the baby  snake, now that the summer is drawing to a close, was to let me know that I'm almost all the way through.  Yay!

Somewhere in the middle of the summer, I dreamt that I drove a convertible off a big cliff (looked like the Grand Canyon), but miracously, a bar appeared above me, right out of nowhere, and I managed to grab hold of it with both hands, saving myself from going over the cliff.

The signs were telling me that it was time to do some inner work, but try as I might, to work through the challenges, it was obvious that I needed a new approach, and well, you know how much we all cozy up to the prospect of 'change'.

So, I decided to study my chart to see if I could come up with a new strategy.  Low and behold, I decided to turn everything around and take the opposite action to what I would normally take.....and it worked!  This has been such a learning experience.  While a part of me still smarts at the growing pains, on a totally different level, it has also been dynamic and energizing.

I imagine during the course of these powerful transitional times we're all exposed to, there will be more such experiences and more learning curves for all of us.  It seems to come with the territory of wanting to be awake and in the Universal flow.

Have you encountered any such 'signs' this Summer?

Our Relationship

with Money

With a combination of challenging financial influences  over the last several years, we've likely had our moments, whereby we feared the worst about our capacity to stay above our own finances.  Hopefully, we have discovered our own resilience and met and integrated some of our fears around this close up and personal part of our lives.

After studying the astrology chart for the European Union, there's a possibility of  Europe being  engulfed in a  deeper recession this Fall, which will ultimately influence the global economy.  If this does unfold, and I would love to be wrong about this,  it places us once again in the position of having to assess or reassess our current relationship with money.

Let's face it. Money has always had a certain 'charge' for so many of us, starting with the influence of our parents beliefs, based on their own  relationship with money, and then there's the  experiences we've encountered as we go about the business of living on planet earth, learning responsibility, attempting to build  financial security and fulfilling our desires.

Have you noticed that when it comes to money, it doesn't seem to matter how much wealth we amass,  somehow it just isn't enough to erase our doubts, fears, and uncertainty around this issue.

I've noticed that more practically oriented people raise their eyebrows and put up such resistance at the idea  of  taking time to analyze their belief system around money,   and then consciously choose to work with the core issues so many of us carry, involving fear and poverty consciousness.

From my own experience, I've come to believe  it's all about creating a balanced approach in our relationship with money, acknowledging  the merit of the  practical  AND metaphysical approach and marrying the two.  Of course, for most of us, this marriage is not an overnight success.  It requires effort.  It requires work.  It requires a steady and patient approach to develop the skills, mindset and trust which, in turn allows us to feel comfortable and confident in ourselves with regard to being empowered in the financial area of our lives, to some degree, irregardless of outer influences.

It's never too late to  cultivate a powerful and empowering attitude toward our own prosperity. It is possible to see ourselves as strong and capable in managing this area of our lives, believing in our ability to cultivate ease and flow, so that should we need to make make temporary adjustments, we can do so, without being overwhelmed by fear.

It's interesting to note how different signs generally approach money.  The fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), aren't usually uptight about money.  They love spending it, and for the most part, believe they will always have the energy and creative drive to make more of 'where that came from.'  Leos generally have more drive and more desire around money for they have big imaginations.

The earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), are about 180 degrees in the opposite direction.  Having above average attachment to financial security, and with Capricorns and Taurus, enjoying  the status which comes from material accomplishment,  they place great value on money, seeking to earn it, grow it, and save it for a rainy day.  While Virgos do not place as much importance on money as her two earth sisters,  Virgos can be uptight and extremely frugal with regard to money.   On a positive note, this can make them good money managers.

The air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) do best when they can implement a financial plan, designed to help them achieve specific goals.   Generally speaking, people with planets in Aquarius (especially Sun, Venus and/or Jupiter) are excellent money managers, and excel in working on behalf of non-profits organizations, while those having planets in Libra (ruled by Venus), usually indicates a desire to have access to beautiful, and often, expensive things.

When looking at the the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces), it's the Cancers and Scorpios that tend to have have a strong association with money.  Cancers can  be more attached to the need for financial security than most signs, which gives them the reputation for scarcity thinking, and a tendency to put money away in a various locations, so they're never caught without their 'stash'.  Scorpios can have good discipline and great practical strategy around money, and often work in financially related fields.  They are most attached to the link between power and money.  They always have hidden assets!  Pisceans are rarely  motivated by money, and sometimes wonder what all the fuss is about.  They may lack the necessary material drive to do well financially, but when it comes to living their dream, they tend to excel.

Astro Tips

A Saturn-Venus square has been building since August 28th, and will become exact in the wee hours of Sept 3.  We may feel the effects of this for several more days.

Having a connection to finances, self-esteem and relationships, this influence doesn't support financial discussions with spouses, or bosses, or making important decisions around financial activity or relationship activity.

It can be an opportune time to set aside some quality time to work with re-energizing and/or re-framing your relationships with others as well as with money.  A positive, influence on Sept 3 is great for setting goals and objectives for the Fall.

NOTE:  All times noted below are PST

Sept 1:    A little time by a body of water could feel really refreshing today.  Take your journal along too, to capture those dreamy ideas.  A day for opting to 'be' rather than 'do'.

(Moon (Pisces) trines Venus (Cancer) at 1:00 pm and a Mercury-Neptune opposition is right on its heels at 2:15 pm

Sept 2  There's a build up of emotional intensity around the late morning/early afternoon hours, so, if you're struggling with the activity at hand, you may consider leaving it alone for an hour, and coming back to it.

(Aries Moon squares Pluto at 11:55 am and conjuncts Uranus at 1:00 pm).

Sept 3:   A powerful, warrior like influence comes into place at  4:00 am, making this the perfect day to identiy objectives and goals for the Fall.  Watch for a tendency to overdo everything today...this aspect also has an obsessive-compulsive streak.

(Mars in Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn)

Sept 4:  'Edgy' influences are about in the early morning hours, which can contribute to feeling moody.  We can take hold of a  positive 'mind power' type of aspect coming in at 9:45 am to put us back on track.  This penetrating mental influence is noted for its capacity to help us with focus, precision and attention to detail.  It also lends itself to being pragmatic and decisive.

If you're a late night person, and you're on a roll, with what you're doing, you may stay up real late to capture another focusing influence, coming in a 1:00 am.

(Aries Moon in T-square with Saturn (Libra) and Venus (Cancer) at 2 - 4 am;  Mercury in Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 9:45 am and Mercury sextiles Mars at 1:00 am on 5th).

Sept 5:   Too much mental activity during the night, and especially if you're a 'light' sleeper, can result in feeling a tad sleepy this morning...like you played out every scenario in your mind, during the night, and you probably did!

(Moon opposite Mars at 1:10 am and Moon trine Mercury at  the same time)

Sept 7:  You might wake up this morning, wondering where you've been all night, after experiencing a rich dream landscape.  If you're feeling a little out of it, things should snap in place around noon, when you find yourself thinking about what fun things you're going to line up for the weekend.

(Midnight on 6th Moon squares Neptune and 3:15 am Sun squares Jupiter;  Gemini Moon sextiles Uranus at 12:12 pm)

Sept 8:  Everthing is loosy goosy today, so just go with the flow.

(Moon squares Mercury at 2:00 am, conjuncts Jupiter at 4:00 am, squares Sun at 6:15 am, and Mercury (Virgo) squares Jupiter (Gemini at 5:15 pm)

Sept 10:  The 'planning' mind begins at 5:45 am.  A tendency to  overthink things and go over the same scenario mentally, can be this morning's challenge.  Action, is the key to get out of the head.

(Sun-Mercury conjunction in Virgo at 5:45 am, followed by Cancer Moon trine to Mars in Scorpio at 9:00 am).

Sept 11:  Keep your emotional boundaries in place today, as melancholic feelings can settle in mid afternoon.

(Cancer Moon squares Saturn at 3:00 pm)

Sept 12:  Creative influences are up for grabs today.  Better at working with the big picture, rather than plugging in the small details.  Know when to quit.  A powerful emotional flash of anger can fly in out of nowhere in the evening.  Time to scan your emotions.  What is going on for you?

(The creative influences consist of Moon conjuncting Leo Venus at 8:15 am, going on to trine Uranus in Aries at 9:30 am;  Venus then trines Uranus at 9:45 pm;  Moon squares Mars in Scorpio at 8:55 pm).

Sept 14:  Perhaps not the fabulous rise and shine kind of experience we hope for on a Friday morning.  It's about giving yourself a little extra time to get in your body and meet the day.  Mid afternoon brings a productive and focused influence, but if you find yourself being irritable, you're likely feeling the build up to the Virgo New Moon tomorrow evening.

(Virgo Moon opposes Neptune at 4:30 am; Moon trines Pluto at 2:30 pm)

Sept 15:  New Moon in Virgo.  See Lunar Activity.

Sept 16:  Oophs.  There goes that busy early morning mind again.  Except wait a minute - it's Sunday.  I don't need to entertain this!  Early evening hours bring in a quick emotional flash of anger aspect, which we might project onto whoever is nearby.   Keep your attention on this one.

(Moon-Mercury conjunction in Virgo at 4:30 am;  Libra Moon in a T-square with Pluto and Uranus at 5:30 - 6:00 pm).

Sept 17Here's to catching that morning spurt of inspiration and enthusiam.

(Libra Moon trines Jupiter in Gemini at 8:30 am)

Sept 18If you schedule extra time for preparing for your day today, it can make it a better emotional experience.  The second exact Uranus-Pluto square takes place just before midnight tonight.  Some of us may feel these energies building as early as Sunday (16th).  They are associated with inner tension and friction, needing to be released.

(Moon-Saturn conjunction at 4:30 am; Uranus-Pluto square at 11:55 pm)

Sept 19:  We'll definitely be aware of the energies of the square throughout the day.  Feelings can be intense, with the desire for more alone time.  Early afternoon Mars aspect brings things to a head, so choose how you plan to release this energy in a non-harmful manner.

(Scorpio Moon squares Venus at 7:30 am and goes on to conjunct Mars in Scorpio at 1:30 pm).

Sept 20PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAILS TODAY.  NOT A GOOD DAY FOR SIGNING OR ENTERING INTO CONTRACTS OR PLANNING A MAJOR PURCHASE.

Mercurial influences can bring mental agitation this afternoon, and plenty of resistance, if we feel put upon by others or by circumstances.  A positive early evening influence makes for creative insights and good uplifting communications.

(T-square with Mercury in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries and square to Pluto in Capricorn;  Venus in Leo sextiles Jupiter in Gemini at 8:45 pm)

Sept 21The International Day of Peace gets off to a great start with a philosophical oriented Sagittarius Moon, and a positive connection with relationship oriented Venus in mid afternoon.

Sept 22:  Autumn Equinox lends itself to outdoor activity.

Sept 23:  Intense influences in the wee hours can result in needing extra rest today.

(Moon squares Uranus and conjucts Pluto just after midnight)

Sept 24:  Mid afternoon influence can bog us down in a practical, taking care of business mode, where we get out of touch with our heart, however, an early evening aspect invites us to reconnect. (Capricorn Moon square to Saturn at 2:15 pm, followed by a Sun-Moon trine at 9:00 pm)

Energies begin to build toward a Mars-Venus square, exact on Sept 27, but possibly felt through Saturday 29th.

A challenging square between the male/female planets, Mars in Scorpio and Venus in Leo, can set the stage for power struggles.  Our desire nature is strong, we want our own way and we don't like losing, so we'd rather duke it out.

Be aware of circumstances in which we feel we need to fight for what we want, or to be sure things go our way.

Sept 25:  Social and communicative Aquarius Moon positive aspects, support us in all kinds of outreach.

(Moon sextiles Uranuis at 4:30 am;  Moon makes a Grand Trine with Mercury in Libra and Jupiter in Gemini at 8:00 - 9:30 pm)

Sept 26:  Right in the middle of the above-mentioned Mars-Venus square, we have a highly positive, noble and philosophical influence, supporting right action (do the right thing) and a win-win situation for all concerned.

(Jupiter in Gemini trines Mercury in Libra) at 7:00 am)

Sept 28:  Pay attention to where your psychic energy goes this evening.  You may be given a glimpse into hidden motives.

(Pisces Moon trines Mars in Scorpio at 7:30 pm)

With a Venus-Mars square in fixed signs and lots of challenges around this upcoming Aries Full Moon (29th), this can create a lot of power clashes between individuals, within governments, and between nations, which could result in a countries threatening military force and/or countries pulling out of the European Union.  There could be rapid fluctuations in the stock markets world wide, depending upon how this combination will play out.  Disruptive weather patterns and power outages can also be on the forefront.

Sept 29:  Full Moon in Aries.  See Lunar Activity.

Besides the Full Moon activity in Aries, major challenges come into place when the Sun in Libra forms a T-square configuration,  opposing Uranus in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn.  Because of the nature of the planets involved, and the Full Moon in the forefront, this combination can be extremely explosive, pushing people way over the edge.

Lunar Activity

Sept 15     New Moon    23 degrees  Virgo      7:11 pm

A New Moon in Virgo can bring our attention to those areas of ourselves our our lives which we'd like to improve upon.  Good with attention to detail, research, and implementing systems, we may decide to embark upon a project or program, taking care to record pertinent details, so that we can evaluate our findings.

On another note, if you've been thinking about growing a garden, or embarking on a landscaping project, a Virgo New Moon is an excellent combination for the planning stages.

Sept 29    Full Moon      7 degrees of Aries        8:19 pm

As stated above, this Full Moon crackles with explosive energies.  An Aries Full Moon always carries a sense of urgency, but when  conjuncting Uranus and squaring Pluto, as this one is, the action is more likely to be head strong, impulsive, making a statement  with direct force.  Put this together with the Sun in Libra forming a T-square configuration with Uranus and Pluto, and you've got some intense energies flying around the planet.  As noted above, also, this could result in a show of military force, erratic fluctuations in the global economy and/or major weather patterns causing devastation, including power outages.  Many incidents of violence and force will be in evidence.  Covering all of the possibilities, it is difficult to know which of the areas mentioned above will be be affected.

Thanks so much for joining me this month.  Next month I'll focus on the upcoming elections.

I wish you a great Labor Day weekend and happy thoughts and fun, in planning your Fall activities.  For myself, I am looking forward to a new series of Downton Abbey.  In my most humble opinion, no-one can do it like the Brits, when it comes to this type of show.

much love
Margaret
