Hello Everyone

How is your Summer going so far?

It seems a bit like a baptism by fire kind of Summer, with lots of
fire and water.  Except, fire and water don't mix very well!

The fire is connected with some of the intensity we've been
experiencing and/or are witnessing, from acts of violence here
at home and overseas, as well as the intense heat and changeable
weather patterns.

The water is connected to a subtle lack of motivation, drive
and/or energy people may be feeling. Or perhaps we find ourselves
being quite proactive with our goals, but results are moving more
slowly than we anticipated.

Of course, Mercury is also in retrograde through August 7, which
has a hand in things taking time to develop and move forward
with consistency.  In fact, Mercury will be in retrograde for the
entire period in which that the Summer Olympics are taking place.

These kinds of challenges, definitely create 'grist for the mill' as
Ram Dass would say, calling upon us to stay centered and in
touch with our feelings.  It's good to remember that we also don't
need to walk these intense times on our own.  Staying aligned
with the Divine force helps us stay connected with our heart
energy and thereby open to the transformative power of love.

I hope you can join me for the workshop I am offering on August
25, in Sedona, entitled Living our Purpose.  See details below.

I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter.

London Welcomes
the World

London ready for the Olympics

I am so looking forward to watching the Olympics!  Besides being

truly great entertainment, there's something so inspiring about

10,000 athletes from 205 countries coming to represent their sport

and their country.  What a great event to help us embrace our

   global citizenship.

I've always paid attention to, and admired people who move well

in their bodies.  When I think of how hard these athletes have

trained, how much it has taken to arrive where they are now, and

knowing this is their big moment, I definitely want to be part of

   the audience.

I hope you will find time to enjoy the Olympics, too!

 Allyson Felix

Allyson Felix, Track and Field sprint athlete, will compete in the 100 and 200 meter races in the London Olympics, the latter, for which she is the U.S. favorite.

A Saturn-Sun conjunction in her natal chart, is testimony to how hard she has worked to be at this level as an athlete.  This placement constantly challenges her self-confidence, but also provides fierce determination, excellent concentration and a great sense of timing.  It also indicates that she sets the bar extremely high for herself.

A Mars in Libra positive trine to her Jupiter-Moon conjunction in Aquarius indicates a
positive and philosophical mindset, that she's socially outgoing, aligning with high principles and a strong sense of justice and fairness.

Uranus-Mercury conjunct in Sagittarius, sextiling Jupiter-Moon and Mars, indicates an independent attitude, a desire for travel and adventure, along with a willingess to step outside of her comfort zone.

Allyson has very positive Jupiter transits during the Olympics, which can support her vision of this being her time to win the gold!

Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps has won 16 Olympic medals.  Eight of these were Gold, and all won at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Michael has a Mars-Sun conjunction in the sign of Cancer in his natal chart.  Mars is almost always placed well in the charts of prominent athletes, because of its association with competitive sports, an aptitute for speed and precision, and high energy reserves.  In fact, this placement probably gives him a competitive edge in everything he does.  Placed in the sign of Cancer, this combination indicates a strong commitment to family and a desire to support causes which assists individuals achieve their best.

Another warrior planet, Pluto, (like Mars), is also well connected to Michael's Sun, supplying determination, ambition and giving oneself fully to one's purpose.  A Uranus-Moon conjunction in Sagittarius, sextiles Jupiter and Mars, indicating a strong
desire for freedom and independence, to do his own thing, find his own way in life, without having to follow the 'herd'.

Challenging 'Saturn' aspects in the natal chart is also a trademark of individuals who excel in their given arena.  In Michael's chart, Saturn in Scorpio opposes Venus in Taurus, speaking of having to exert consistent effort and work very hard, in order to meet his own, very high standards.  The challenge from this combination is especially felt in conjunction with personal relationships, and in keeping one's self-esteem in a positive place.

The most noticeable transits in Michael's chart during the Olympics, is the square between Uranus and Pluto (in the heavens), which challenges his Cancer Sun.  There's no doubt that this implies Michael will experience immense pressure, off the wall tension levels, and pronounced emotional ups and downs.  Of course, having faced such tremendous pressure many times in the past, will no doubt stand by him.

The good news is that transiting Uranus in Aries, will trine Mercury in Leo (in the heavens), which just happens to connect well with Michael's Moon in Sagittarius, affording him a Grand Trine in Fire.  This can give him a last minute flash of energy, just the boost he might need,  to bring home the gold.

Restlessness in the

air this Summer

Many of us are feeling the influence of having several planets, but especially Neptune and Jupiter in mutable signs, througout this
Summer.

On one side of the coin,  this experience can leave us feeling restless,
bored, unmotivated, and unsure of what we really want.   We may feel
that we're 'waiting', in limbo...but for what, exactly?

With the flip side of the coin, we may be inclined to allow ourselves
extra time for rest, relaxation, and/or embrace a more leisurely and
spontaneous approach to our lives.  These 'soft' and 'gentle' influences
can also help us regroup, to let go of a build up of stress and tension,
some of which is created by the harder astrological aspects between
Uranus and Pluto.

Nevertheless, it's also the case that we like to be able to access our
energy, focus, and drive, in order to stay on top of our lives.

Mars will transit the sign of Scorpio, August 23 - October 5.  Fixed
signs, are in some ways, carry the exact opposite energies of mutable
signs, in that they are suited to fixing one's attention in a one pointed
and deliberate manner, to exact reliable results.  Mars in Scorpio
will help us cut through the indecision often created when too many
planets are in mutable signs.

Mars in Scorpio, carries a warrior like energy, sometimes emotionally
intense and driven, but nevertheless determined and one pointed
in overcoming obstacles, in order to acheive the desired results.

We can choose to align ourselves with the positive qualities,
associated with this placement and put it to good use.  It's especially
helpful, directing these energies to those areas where we have
previously struggled with  managing to achieve our desired results.

It's still nice to have the flexibility of the mutable placements as a
backdrop, to cut through the sometimes compulsive/obsessive energies
of such a strong planet (Mars) transiting the emotionally powerful
sign of Scorpio.  Then we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Saturn with also enter the sign of Scorpio in early October of this
year, which will be addressed in a separate article later in the
Fall.

Empowerment by Rita Loyd

Aug 1:  We begin this month with a Full Moon in Aquarius (See Lunar Activity). Indecision and mental distraction can linger this morning.  As we move toward the early evening hours, philosophical influences appear on the horizon.

(Moon opposite Mercury (Leo) at 9:00 am; Moon sextiles Uranus at 5:15 pm and goes on to trine Jupiter (Gemini) at 8:45 pm).

Aug 2:  Creative, energizing and uplifting conversations and interactions are supported.

(Sun-Jupiter sextile at 3:00 am, follwed by a Moon-Mars trine at 8:00 am)

Aug 3Imaginative, somewhat 'dreamy' influence, may have us reaching for that late morning cup of coffee.

(Moon-Neptune conjunction in Pisces at 11:00 am)

Aug 5:  After the last few days of a low-key, Pisces Moon, come early evening, we're ready to rock'n roll as the Moon enters Aries at 2:00 pm.

 (Moon trines Mercury in Leo)

Aug 6:  A few crinkles may appear on the horizon this morning, so that we can feel 'put upon', but these even out when a more benevolent influence comes in late morning.

(Moon conjuncts Uranus and squares Pluto - 4 - 6 am; Moon sextiles Jupiter at 11:30 am).

Aug 7:  Venus enters Cancer, where it remains through Sept 5.  This influence pertains to matters concerning home, family, and self-nurturing activities and involvement. It's an excellent aspect for working on one's home and in the garden and attending  events centred around food, such as 'pot lucks'.

We may also feel nostalgic and melancholic some of the time, especially if we venture down 'memory lane'.

Mercury goes Direct at 10:45 pm!

For those who are not 'morning' people, try to make extra time for yourself so you don't feel rushed in starting your day.  if you do find yourself starting off the day on the wrong foot, try to set it right, to let go, so that you don't get caught up in the early afternoon influence, where brooding can become an art form.

(Moon-Mars opposition at 4:30 am, followed by Moon-Saturn opposition at 1:00 pm)

Aug 8:  Gentle influences connect with the Taurus Moon today, promoting a sense of peace and nurturing.

Aug 9:  Psychic and emotional sensitivity abound today and can also be felt tomorrow ...supporting spiritual reflection and artistic endeavors.  These energies do not like to be too contained, and thereby are not well suited for logical, linear thinking and mental concentration.

(Venus in Cancer trines Neptune in Pisces at 3:30 pm, but also squares the transiting Nodes (South Node in Gemini and North Node in Sagittarius)

Aug 10:  Late afternoon/early evening influences are well suited to philosophical discourse.

(Gemini Moon sextiles Mercury in Leo and Moon squares Neptune - 5:00 - 5:30 pm).

Aug 11:  Influences today create an open mind and the desire to embrace that which is uplifting and inspirational.

(Moon sextile Uranus at 5:45 am and Moon conjuncts Jupiter in Gemini at 1:30 pm).

Aug 12:  Great day for insightful conversations, good social connections, and mental clarity.  Looking for some evening fun?  Perseids meteors are in the sky this evening!

(Moon sextiles Mars (Libra) at 11:45 am and trines Saturn (Libra) at 2:45 pm)

Aug 13 - 15:  A Cancer Moon and challenging Influences over the next several days create emotional vulnerability. It is a good idea to get to the bottom of emotional upsets, as they arise, so as not to internalize unhappy feelings.  These energies build, toward the New Moon coming into place this Friday.

Relationships can become tense, especially around Aug 15th, when the influences become much more stressful.  These as not great aspects for social activity, or getting into debates.  Hold off on making legal decisions, and personal discussions relating to money and power.  Concern over finances can be greatly amplified, which is not supportive of making important financial decisions.

(Aug 15: Moon squares Mars/Saturn in Libra at 1:00 - 1:30 am; Mars conjuncts Saturn in Libra at 3:30 am; Venus comes into a T-square with Uranus and Pluto 2 am - 11:45 pm)

Aug 16:  Aspects come into place today which help the clear the air from the past few days, helping us obtain clarity.

(Leo Moon trines Uranus in Aries at 2:00 am and Moon sextiles Jupiter in Gemini at 10:30 am).

Aug 17: New Moon in Leo.  See Lunar activity. Thoughts toward new and exciting endeavors can present themselves with this New Moon, and also feel grounded from a positive Saturn connection.  However, think before leaping ahead, and making big plans for the weekend.

The Moon enters the health related sign of Virgo at 5:30 pm today, where it will stay until late on Sunday night.  We may be surprised to find that this past week has taken an emotional toll, which requires us to rest and gather our strength over the weekend.  This Virgo Moon supports good nutritional habits to help restore our digestive energies, which contributes to letting go of lingering stress.

Aug 18:  An insightful and innovative influence comes together late afternoon, supporting creative vision and endeavors.

(Mercury in leo trines Uranus in Aries at 4:30 pm)

Aug 20:  Mid morning influences can be tension filled, for we don't find ourselves in the mood for close up and personal collaboration.  Best to leave those meeting to the afternoon hours, when things begin to flow better.

(Libra Moon comes into a challenging T-Square configuration with Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries at 10:00 - 11:30 am.  Sun sextiles Mars at 2:45 pm)

Aug 21:  We may feel a little tired in the late afternoon today.  While the energy picks up later in the evening, giving a great boost to those who love to be busy at night, it may be too late for the majority to get a good night's restful sleep!

(Moon conjuncts Saturn at 5:00 pm and Moon conjuncts Mars at 11:30 pm)

Aug 22:  Early morning influences carry psychic sensitivity, requiring some quiet, alone time before jumping into a busy schedule.  If you can create a working  environment which supports deep, introspective thinking, without interruptions, this can be a productive day for you.  A great influence in the afternoon, can spark new life into your creative ideas and projects.

(Scorpio Moon trines Neptune in Pisces at 4:00 am and Mercry in Leo sextiles Jupiter in Gemini, exact at 3:45 pm).

From Aug 20 - 31 Mars connects well with the Sun, which can be energizing for us and help us achieve our goals.

Aug 23:  Mars enters the sign of Scorpio, and will be there through Oct 6.  Because of the 'fixed' and 'steady' nature of this combination, we can accomplish a great deal, so it's a good time to tackle that which requires our full attention, and a fierce determination. The psychological shadow side of this combination can reveal obsessive, compulsive patterns and stubborness.

Right out of a Lord of the Rings movie, today's aspects will take us into the deep, watery, and psychically sensitive arena of Scorpio and tommorrow, we'll get to visit the watery, unworldly and philosophical realm associated with Pisces.  A late afternoon influence on 24th, helps us break out of the etheric realm and feel more action oriented.

(Aug 23: Scorpio Moon squares Mercury at 1:00 am, and trines Venus at 2:30 am;

Aug 24: Sun opposes Neptune at at 5:30 am, followed by a Sagittarius Moon in a T-square configuration with Sun in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces 6:30 - 7:00 am;  Sagittarius Moon trines Uranus in Aries)

Aug 25:  A Sagittarius Moon is not comfortable in the watery realms, so when in doubt, get out of the house and on the road.  Don't be surprised if you end taking a little road trip today, which gives you time for inspired thinking.

(Moon in Sagittarius trines Mercury in Leo at 10:30 am)

Aug 26:  Don't be surprised if you wake up having come from some pretty bizzare, deep dreams.  But with a practical, Capricorn Moon, this looks to be a productive kind of day.  With somewhat Intense aspects permeating the evening, it's easy to end up fighting over this evening's  TV rights.  My motto:  Let the cat decide!

(Mars-Neptune trine such at midnight of last night; Moon sextiles Neptune and Mars 9:30 - 10:30 am, followed by a Moon-Sun trine at 1:45 pm.  Moon conjuncts Pluto at 7:00 pm and squares Uranus at 8:15 pm).

Aug 27:  An early evening influence pits our need for self-nurturing against the never ending domestic chores.

(Moon-Venus opposition at 5:00 pm)

Aug 27 - Sept 3:  Some of us may feel the early stirrings of a Venus-Saturn square, which tends to trigger concerns over finances and security matters, along with a tendency to worry about those we love.

Aug 28:  An early morning influence can contribute to waking up with reluctance in meeting the demands of our day.  A late afternoon combination can create a subtle struggle in that intellectually, we decide to be above whatever is pulling on us emotionally, but it takes a more hands-on approach to truly 'shift' the energy.

(Moon squares Saturn at 3:30 am; Aquarius Moon squares Mars in Scorpio at 4:30 pm).

Aug 29:   If you need to work late to catch up, this is your evening!  An expansive late morning influence lifts our spirits and opens us to magical thinking.  A a practical and productive, late afternoon influence sustains our focus and energy well into the evening, and is joined with a mentally stimulating and focused energy, offering clarity and precision.

(Aquarius Moon trines Jupiter in Gemini at 11:45 am; Virgo Sun trines Pluto in Capricorn at 5:15 pm and Mercury in Leo sextiles Saturn in Libra at 6:30 pm)

Aug 30:  Early morning is the most opportune time for communication and that which requires focus, for by mid morning, we may feel our concentration slipping away and by supper time, well, it's an entirely different story. The philosophically oriented evening hours are best suited to quieter, reflective type activities.

(Moon trines Saturn at 8:30 am;  Moon opposes Mercury (Leo) and goes VOID at 10:30 am, which is best supportive of activities which are artistic and spiritual in nature; Moon enters Pisces and conjuncts Neptune at 6:15 pm)

Aug 31:  Full Moon at 7:00 am.  See Lunar Activity. Mercury enters Virgo at &:30 pm.

Lunar Activity

Note:  There are two full Moons this month.  One on the 1st and the other, known as a Blue moon, falls on the 31st!  Both Full Moons carry energies which is are spiritually very expansive.

Aug 1      Full Moon     10 degrees of Aquarius     8:27 pm PST
How auspicious that, as this Moon becomes Full, it makes a positive trine to Jupiter in Gemini.  These expansive, Universal energies lend themselves to philosophical
thinking, and placing our attention on that which can contribute to expanding the
Spirit.  Thisis especially favorable for spiritual gatherings or celebrations where
music and, dance is taking place.

Aug 31     Full Moon       8 degrees of Pisces         6:58 am PST
This Full Moon in Pisces carries heightened mystical energies, given that it came
into a conjunction with its own ruler, Neptune, last night.

It was, and in many cases, still is, the custom of indigenous peoples to honor
elevated lunar activity by ceasing outer work and focusing attention inward on
ceremony and matters pertaining to the Spirit.  If ever there was a Full Moon which
calls upon us to do the same, this would be it.

Giving our attention to busy activity, and that which requires logical-linear thinking
and attention to mental details is not supported at this time.
