Hello Everyone

Welcome to the July newsletter!

Have you noticed that we are being showered with an amazing amount of heightened planetary energies of late?  It would seem the veils between this world and the other worlds is very thin right now.  This means that we have a great opportunity to commune with our spirit guides.

As our guides reach out to us, to offer blessings and guidance, they have only our wellbeing at heart.  We don't have to be psychic in order to connect with our Guides, but we do have to be receptive.  Meditation, journaling and working with the imagination are good ways to connect.  We can also just ask our guides to give us clues...then pay attention to repetitive thoughts and ideas which come across our radar.

Perhaps like me, you find yourself seeking more alone time in order to be available to receive this guidance, followed by more time for napping, I guess, to integrate it all.  Grounding exercises are a must during all of this!

What a great help this is for all of us.  Not only does it seem to soften the influences from the more intensive 'hard' planetary aspects, but it helps us tune in with the higher vibrations, so we don't get totally lost in the drama in front of us.

On another note, I wish you a very

Summer of 2012

Summer of Love

Could there be a correlation between the astrological aspects taking place this Summer of 2012, and the well remembered, Summer of Love, in 1967?  Let's take a look!

During the Summer of 1967, the disruptive, unpredictable forces of Uranus and Plutothe 'revolutionary' pair, were in a powerful and emotionally potent conjunction with each other.

While the West coast was experiencing its slice of the radical Uranus-Pluto forces of change, the other side of the country was also deep in transition. In what became known as the Detroit Riots in 1967, African Americans staged demonstrations, fighting for equal rights, in which 159 were arrested in a 3 day period in July.   Newark, New Jersey, was also ripe with racial tension.  In the riot which took place there, also in July of 1967, there were over 20 deaths and hundreds were arrested.

Here we are entering the Summer of 2012.  Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, are once again dancing their dance of tension and unrest.  Most noticeable in the increased tension of late, in political activities in Egypt and Syria, and the unpredictability of the Euro, we are yet to see how this might unfold in the United States, en masse. Perhaps it will be tied in with the pending announcement of the verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.

There is no doubt in my mind that the disruptive and often eruptive energies asssociated with the Uranus-Pluto planetary combination,  places tremendous pressure and stress upon individuals and within societies.  When we look at how the phychological stress inherent in this placement, we  have only to remember that Uranus is connected with anger, while Pluto is connected with rage.  This can be measured by as an increase in domestic violence, child abuse, stress within relationships, esclating road rage, and not to mention the ugliness which can come about between political parties in an election year.

Another big 'energy' present in both timeframes is Neptune, the planet which presides over utopian and idealistic visions, and which is attributed to masses of people gathering together to support and embrace their beliefs.  Neptunian influence is also expressed in the music and film scene of the times, and, also by an increase in drug use.

In the Summer of 1967, Neptune was transiting through the emotionally oriented, water sign of Scorpio.  This placement can create a deep longing to lose oneself, to emotionally merge with that which offers a truly transcendent experience.  While drugs, sex and rockin' roll are also contenders here, the feeling of belonging, of fitting in, of being present and involved in the birth of something profound and extraordinary, were also in the mix, not to mention the possibility of having a hands-on, close up and personal experience of high spiritual states, even if induced a little  from the substances freely available in those times.

It's no wonder that many felt compelled to roll up their sleeping bags and head off  to become part of a new and powerful movement, promoting radical, social change, and spiritual transformation. Haight Ashbury in San Francisco, was where it was at.  In June of that same summer,  Monterey hosted an International Pop Festival, where Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Ravi Shankar and Janis Joplin performed.

In the Summer of 2012,  Neptune is once again moving through a water sign, the idealistic and spiritually oriented sign of Pisces, which like its counterpart in 1967, creates a deep longing to belong, to find those signposts in life, which assure us we're on the right path, that someone is in charge and knows where the planet is headed.  The underbelly of this placement can create a feeling of being lost, adrift, without a rudder.  Youth are especially vulnerable to this experience, as they struggle to find their way and their purpose in life.  While we may be inclined to worry about younger people being pressured to experiment with drugs, let us not overlook the alarming increase of prescription drug use, and overuse, by all age groups, and especially with regard to medication, freely available for depression.

The 'Occupy Wall Street' movement may not have reached the massive proportions of the counter culture demontrations staged in 1967, but one only has to tune in on the current music scene, to see how many of our youth show up at concerts given by Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber or Taylor Swift, to know that music is still quite the vehicle for gathering and influencing the masses.

Perhaps those of us who were strongly influenced and forever changed by the 60's, may choose to step forward as leaders, or at the very least,  as conscious examples of how to live life by honoring one's core values, and standing strong and steady in who we are, who we have become, as a result of living our life in alignment with our social and spiritual principles.

If we look at some of the intense aspects mentioned above through a microscopic lense, we may see only challenge, stress and strife coming our way.  If we look at this through a larger lense, we may recognize that friction and tension seems to have a place in the transformational process of the individual and of the collective. The alchemic process always carries some discomfort, for we often experience breakdowns, before we reach the breakthroughs.

When we look back at turbulent times in history, the transformative agents of change, the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are almost always found to be in flux, in challenging relationships to each other.  These planets signal that the time is upon us, as a society to find new ways, for a new chapter is being written, as we speak.

We don't have to feel like we're in the dark.  Progressive thinkers, found in every generation and every society, are the first ones to give voice to the new paradigm, to identify what is going on, and to ultimately point the way forward.

This last week of June definitely has its ups and downs, with the first of five Pluto-Uranus exact squares )June 24) and the T-square with Pluto and Uranus to the Sun in Cancer, exact on Friday, 29th, but may be felt for several days, either side of the day it's exact.

July 1:   We head into this month with an adventurous Sagittarius Moon, just waiting for a fun outing.

Take note that a positive communication influence begs to be expressed through bold artistic endeavors, July 1 - 18.
(Mercury in Leo sextiles Venus in Gemini)

July 3:  Full Moon in Capricorn.  See Lunar Activity.
This Full Moon is impacted with Mars/Uranus/Pluto energy, jumping up and down in the early morning hours, like a pouting child, determined to make a scene.

July 4:  An early morning somber influence is quickly replaced by a display of energetic, creative, expansive influences .
(Moon-Saturn square at 5:30 am, followed by Mercury-Venus sextile, Mercury-Uranus trine and Venus-Uranus sextile)

July 5:  You may feel the desire to linger a little longer over coffee this morning and chat.
(Moon in socially aware, idealistic sign of Aquarius, gets to hang out with similar minded buddies.  It trines Jupiter (Gemini) at 2:00 am, then there's a Moon-Uranus  / Moon-Venus sextile at 8 am).

July 7:  Expansive dreamscape, so don't be surprised if you wake up trying to piece together the dreams you just had.
(Moon-Neptune conjunction in Pisces at 2:40 am, followed by a Moon-Jupiter square at 7:40 am).

July 9:  Things can take longer than anticipated in the late morning...so leave extra time.  If irritation and anger pays you a visit, it may work best to walk away temporarily from what you're doing and regroup after a breather.  Be careful about carrying emotional upsets into the evening, where tense influences hang about, at least for West Coast dwellers.  Sleep is not easy to find this evening.
(Aries Moon opposes Mars at 11:45 am; Moon goes on to square Pluto at 8:45 pm and square Uranus at 9:50 pm).

July 10:  An early morning positive influence helps us clear our mind and move forward with clarity and determination.
(Moon-Mercury trine at 4:00 am)

July 11:  Try to give yourself a little extra time and self nurturing as you meet your day today, and continue to pace yourself during the day.
(Moon opposes Saturn at 2:25 am; Moon void from the wee hours until 4:30 pm).

July 12:  A productive and artistic influence comes together this morning.  An early evening aspect can have us missing out on the perfection of the present moment because we're intent on forcing an issue to come together as we perceive it should be.
(Taurus Moon trine Pluto in Capricorn at 8:30 am, followed by Moon-Mercury (Leo) square at 5:30 pm)

July 14:   Whatever idea or project you embark on today, be sure it's well thought out and that you have everything you need BEFORE you begin. Understanding the scope and being realistic about the time it will take, can save you feelings of disappointment, later in the day.

Mercury goes retrograde at 7:15 pm.  More details at the end of the Astro Tips.

The Moon moves into light hearted sign of Gemini early in the day, carrying with it the promise of a fun day, but  there's also a Saturn aspect lingering in the background during the day, which is exact in the late evening, which can carry subtle and tricky emotional undertones.
(Mercury-Venus sextile is exact at 3:45 pm;  Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Gemini at 8 pm, followed by a Sun (Cancer) square to Saturn (Libra) at 9:15 pm).

July 15:  Expect fun, creative ideas coming to you this morning, which you're eager to share, via the  communication device of your choice.
(Gemini Moon sextiles Mercury and conjuncts Venus at 6:45 - 7:30 am)

July 16:  There's a Void Moon today (until 5:30 pm), which supports staying focused on the task at hand until it's well on its way.  If we experience a lot of interruptions during the day, we can feel like we didn't accomplish as much as we had intended.

However, there's also a beneficial early morning aspect which helps us gather our attention and direct it toward the task at hand.
(Moon-Saturn trine at 4 am)

The Moon enters the sign of Cancer at 5:30 pm, gently stirring the pot, intensifying emotions, as we come toward the New Moon on July 18.

The next few days carry heightened emotional intensity, as a Cardinal Grand Cross takes center stage.

These dates are not good for air travel or beginning a new venture.

July 17/18:   Very volatile, unpredictable energies abound,  so we need to take good care of our emotions and create a low key environment and low key relationship activity in order to ride this out.

On a more positive note, a powerful 'Jupiter' influence carries the power to bring about a noticeable 'shift' or 'breakthrough'.
(17th:    Jupiter trines Mars at 5:30 am, followed by a Grand Cross involving, Cancer Moon opposite Pluto (Capricorn), squaring Mars (Libra) and Uranus (Aries).  Mars squares Pluto at 1:30 pm.

18th:    Moon squares Saturn at 2:15 pm.  Mars opposes Uranus at 8:00 pm.  New Moon in Cancer at 9:24 pm.  (See Lunar Activity)

July 19/20:  A Leo Moon creates positive influences over the next couple of days, helping us move forward from the emotionally trying influences of the last few days.
(19th:   Moon sextiles Jupiter and Mars and trines Uranus (6:15 pm - 8:15 pm)

20th:   Moon sextiles Venus and Saturn (8:45 pm - 10:15 pm).

July 21/22:   There's a mixture of energies this weekend.  Some may leave us feeling a little spaced out and/or tired, while others can spark our creativity and curosity, and let those sought after 'original' ideas flow.
(21st:  Virgo Moon oppostes Neptune (Pisces) at 3:00 pm, followed by Jupiter (Gemini) - Uranus (Aries) sextile at 9:00 pm)

22nd:  Virgo Moon first squares Jupiter in Gemini at 1:45 am and then squares Venus in Gemini at 5:45 pm.  In between there's a sextile from Mercury (Leo) to Mars (Libra) at 4:00 am)

July 24:  So much activity in the morning hours, starting with some challenging influences, which can gather dark clouds.  However, we also have the chance to 'shift' these pretty quickly.  It's all in the attitude this morning -so, if we can go with flow, we can get on with the show!  An energetic, individualistic influence comes in around Noon, so we're ready for action.
(Libra Moon is in a T-square with Pluto and Uranus 5:00 - 6:30 am, followed by a Moon-Jupiter trine and a Moon-Mercury sextile at 7:30 am.  Moon conjuncts Mars in Libra at 12:00 pm and Mercury (Leo) sextiles Jupiter (Gemini) at 12:15 pm).

July 25:  Two very different influences await us this morning.  On one hand, an expansive mental influence can offer intuitive insights, innovative ideas, and be very stimulating.  The second influence address the needs of our physical and emotional body, and may put us in touch with how tired we are.
(Mercury-Uranus trine at 6:30 am, followed by Moon-Saturn conjunction in Libra at 8:15 am.  Moon trines Neptune at 11:45 pm).

July 26/27:  Moon is Void in Scorpio for these two days, reflecting a need for alone time, accompanied by a   preference for that which allows for indepth focus

July 28:  A philosophical and freedom oriented Sag. Moon comes into play this morning....so don't be surprised if you're on the road by Noon, with places to go and things to do.  Perhaps you can also fit today's  fabulous creative, mental influences, into the mix.
(Sagittarius Moon comes into a Grand Trine with Mercury in Leo and Uranus in Aries 8:00 - 12:30 pm). Leo Sun conjuncts Mercury at 1:00 pm)

July 30:  Some early afternoon emotional intensity can fire up out of nowhere, stretching your good humor.  Try to keep your focus on the bigger picture, cosmic aspects around in the late evening, which just happen to meet up with workable, grounded influences, beneficial for  financial and relationship activity.
(Capricorn Moon conjuncts Pluto and squares Uranus (1:00 - 2:30 pm;  Sun in Leo at 8 degrees, makes a powerful, and positive trine to Uranus in Aries at 10:15pm. Saturn trines Venus (Gemini) just after midnight).

July 31:  An early morning influence, can make us feel like we're too rushed and put upon, this Friday morning.  Perhaps, we opted for a late night last night (to see in the Sun-Uranus trine).  We may be clock watching today, more than ready to begin our weekend.
(Moon squares Mars at 2:45 am.  Moon squares Saturn at 4:39 pm).

LUNAR ACTIVITY

Full Moon:     July 3    12 deg Capricorn at  11:52 am
Feeling energized by this 'cardinal' (action oriented) Full Moon, it is easy to push ourselves, but we could very well be  unhappy with the results.  The best idea, is to start your project, but pace yourself.  Full Moon energies always make us feel emotionally vulnerable, but a Capricorn Moon is not known for wanting to dwell on feelings...hence the choice to get involved with activities, which may also distract us from being with our feelings.

New Moon:      Apr 18     26 deg Cancer   at  9:25 pm
This New Moon is caught up with volatile aspects from Mars, Uranus and Pluto.  That's a lot to be happening in just a  3 day timeframe (July 17, 18 and 19).  Concerns regarding safety, security and finances will be up for review.

Inflamed, out of control anger, can come forth from this combination, which does not bode well for situations which are already very tense, such as the political situation in Egypt and Syria.

On the homefront, it will be important to be gentle with those around us and comfort those who are having a hard time emotionally.  Unfortunately, domestic violence and spousal abuse will show up in spades.

Mercury in Retrograde

July 14 - Aug 7  - This Mercury retrograde is in the sign of Leo.  Leo likes to do things in style, sometimes grand style, so this retrograde may tone down some of the granduer. Not to worry.  No need to lose face.  There will always be other opportunities right around the corner, to pick up where we left off.

The motto of this Mercury retrograde is:  don't overstep what is possible for you right now.
