PEOPLE OF THE BOOK LUTHERAN OUTREACH IN TEXAS
THE CHRISTMAS TREE OF HOPE FOR ALL NATIONS                  PART I

Dear Christmas Partners in the Gospel to All Nations,

As  you contemplate and decorate your Christmas Tree this year, take a good look at the beautiful ornaments on this unique POBLO-TX Christmas Tree of All Nations. Children from All Nations around and under the Christmas Tree of All Nations.

8 million Children received shoe boxes last year from Operation Christmas Child through  the Samaritan's Purse ministries.  What a blessing.  Today, God has brought these children, here,  to us, from All Nations and He determines the right place for them to live and have their own being - Acts 17:26-28.  They are all over the place, look  around you and see, because the Harvest is plentiful...they are here in our communities, in our schools and especially inside our churches. God did this so that they would  seek His son ...they are here because they want to see Jesus. John 12:20-32.  Jesus replied "Let the Little  Children come to me and do not  hinder them"
...Matthew 19:14.

Your Christmas this year could be different. The best Christmas present doesn't  come wrapped in a pretty box,  placed under a plastic Christmas tree every year, rather it was lifted up on a wooden tree once  for all people to see, believe and be healed from their sin. John 3:14-16. When Jesus was lifted up on the  tree of death and sin, he had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:2-4  But he was lifted up and pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us Peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.  Jesus says: "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw All People to myself" John 12:32.  This year when you look at your Family Christmas Tree, please say a special prayer for POBLO-TX'S  Christmas Tree of All Nations.  Pray that the living Tree of the Risen Christ will bring the eternal hope of the Gospel to All hopeless children in the world (Rev 14:6).

"The Leaves of the Tree Were for the Healing of the Nations"
Rev 22:2    PART 2

POBLO-TX "Christmas Tree Of All Nations"  was a huge success thanks to your Prayers and Support.  It started out with 15 branches (children)  and multiplied to over 60 more (from 2 to 18 years old)  not to mention their parents who also received presents.  Congregations reached out and adopted their share of the branches and even asked for  more children who were all waiting for someone to extend to them the Love of the Christmas Child and give them a reason to believe why Christmas exists in the first place.  They came, they heard and they received your gifts of Joy and Hope from the baby Jesus, the Savior of the World.

POBLO-TEXAS would like to take this opportunity to thank all the churches for adopting the "Christmas Tree of Hope for All Nations".   Especially to all of the participating members at the following churches: Our Redeemer-Dallas, Redeemer-Ft. Worth, Cross Of Christ-DeSoto, Redeeming Grace, Austin, Holy Cross-Warda, Immanuel-Giddings, St. James-Lexington, Ebenezer- Paige, Hope--Corinth; Prince of Peace-Carrollton and Igelasia Hispanic Ministry. All together over $4,000 was raised and over 60 children from All Nations received gifts on Friday night evening, December 17th at our ESL Christmas Celebration as the pictures show below.

Your prayers and gifts have touched the hearts of all the children who came to see Jesus who answered: "Let the Little  Children come to me and do not  hinder them" ...Matthew 19:14.

TURNING FEAR INTO FAITH

Suzan and her little boy Ayo (7 yrs old), are refugees who came from Iraq to Dallas two years ago. After her 4 month assistance from the government program ran out, Suzan had no choice but to begin her search for a job in this unpromising bad economy. Her part time baby sitting job could not cover rent for her one bedroom apartment and only kept her away from her son at night.

Being a single mother who grew up in a world that gave no attention to education and absolutely no status to females, Suzan gave up trying and went into depression. Suzan could hardly speak English when she came to our POBLO-TX ESL program. Her great efforts in learning English, hard work and desire in helping otherwomen like her, paid off when POBLO-TX offered her a job. She became the food pantry coordinator and started to assist in our ESL program by reaching out to all Iraqi mothers and their children on a day to day basis.  Thanks to a generous gift from The Dallas Child Magazine, Suzan can walk a few steps from our ESL office at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and pick up her child at Our Redeemer school. Now little Ayo has many Christian friends at Our Redeemer Lutheran School. Suzan brings him to our office so I can read to him and tell him Bible stories about Jesus. Ayo loves to hear the story of the little Shepherd David who fought the Giant Over and over again. Before he came to Dallas, Ayo and his mother had to face many giants during the wars in Iraq. They also suffered five years of harsh treatment in refugee camps in Egypt before they came to Texas.

Thank you for praying and supporting little Ayo and his mother. I believe the reason that little Ayo loves to hear the story of little David conquering the giant, Goliath, and wining at the end is because it brings him Peace and helps turn his fears into Faith and gives him Hope. Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1.

Pray that Ayo will continue to receive a solid Christian education at Our Redeemer Lutheran School and grow daily in his faith. Pray also that his mother will continue to grow in her faith and reach out to her Iraqi neighbors with the Love of Jesus always.

We Thank Lord for everyone for their partnership in the Gospel for the Lord is good for His mercies endure forever.

Actions From the Heart
I received a POBLO-TX newsletter in July and read about the ESL program that is offered through their ministry. After reading the request for volunteer teachers I felt a pull on my heart so I decided to go to the orientation to see what it was all about. After many days of praying I felt that the L-rd wanted me to be a part of this ministry. I had never done anything like this before and I was nervous but, after seeing the students come into class every week with a smile on their faces then leave class expressing their appreciation of the time that they have spent with me, fills my heart with joy. This is a program that is more than just teaching English; it is also about building relationships and I look forward to Monday night class because it gives me an opportunity to communicate with the students even if it is only a smile.

Before I became a part of this program I did not know there were so many people who were in need of help learning to communicate even at the most elementary level and it has made me realize just how important it is to have people who are willing to volunteer their time. Being a volunteer teacher has not only given me an opportunity to help these wonderful people learn English but it has also made a huge difference in my life because I know that what I am doing is making a difference in someone else's life. If you are reading this article and you feel a pull on your heart... then act on it. I can promise that the fulfillment you will receive by being a part of this ministry will be an awesome reward.

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."" - Luke 2:11-14
