Love for Jesus Can Bring Christians, Muslims Together
By Ibrahim Hooper

IMPORTANT NOTE: This commentary was very popular with readers nationwide when it was first distributed before Christmas several years ago. It is being offered again for those publications that were unable to publish it previously.

"Behold! The angels said: 'O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Jesus Christ, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and in (the company of) those nearest to God.'"  Before searching for this quote in the New Testament, you might first ask your Muslim co-worker, friend or neighbor for a copy of the Quran, Islam's revealed text. The quote is from verse 45 of chapter 3 in the Quran.

It is well known, particularly in this holiday season, that Christians follow the teachings of Jesus. What is less well understood is that Muslims also love and revere Jesus as one of God's greatest messengers to mankind. Please click here to continue this article in it's entirety. . .

CAUTION - IMPORTANT!
Continue to read!   If you really think we have a shared love and reverence for Jesus, please read Pastor Karim's theology of the Cross in response to this commentary with a real life example in defense of the Christian faith and the way of the Cross!

Can the Love for Jesus bring Christians, Muslims Together?  Yes and No.
First, if your answer is yes as a result of what you have just read in this famous article above, then you are absolutely wrong and have been ensnared in a pseudo Gospel.  By far, the Quran is the best counterfeit of the Bible and has entangled 1.3 billion people in the World.  Islam occupies almost one third of the dark world population, making it the fastest growing religion on earth today.

Second,   Jesus commanded us believers to be ready to give an answer to the Hope we have in Him but do it in truth and in Love.  I hope my response will do just that and encourage Christians to speak the Gospel in Love without compromising truth about Jesus, the light of the world. "I am sending you to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness for their sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." Acts 26:17-18

This commentary was very popular among both, Christian and Muslim readers nationwide when it was first distributed before Christmas several years ago. It is being offered again this year for publication because of the religion of the glory which really sells in American churches today.  I hope that neither the business of Christmas nor the bad weather has stopped you from at least taking a look at the CHRISTmas Gospel reading this year.  Listen to how the Bible defines love and real togetherness without compromising the truth about Jesus.  Open and read 1 John 5-9.  Do you see
where God locates His love, forgiveness and real fellowship? ". . .
We walk in fellowship with one another, in the blood of Jesus, His son purifies us from everything. . ."

Growing up as a Muslim, I too loved Jesus as a prophet. It was only after my Baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit did I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior and experienced real love for others.  No one can say Jesus is Lord apart from the  power of the Holy Spirit in God's Word... I also used to  believed that Jesus was born of the Virgin because God spoke him into Mary's womb through the Holy Spirit but I still denied the Trinity.  I believed that Jesus healed the blind and raised people from the dead but there was no way he could have saved others from their sin, because Allah lifted him up alive from the Cross.  The Quran made me believe that the death of Jesus was not necessary for the forgiveness of my sin because I was not born a sinner in the first place.  Muslims believe that human beings sin not because  they are born sinners, but become sinners because of sin. That Jesus did not suffer and was crucified for my sin, but Allah saved him from the hands of the rebellious Jews who killed all the prophets of God ( Quran Chap 4:157).  The Quran speaks about Jesus's miracles in the Bible and even more, but yet denies the miracle of the Cross.  This lie is as old as Satan himself, because without the cross there is no forgiveness and the Gospel is void and empty. Satan has it all figured out in the Quran: No Cross, No Gospel, No Resurrection,  No Hope and No Eternity, but only empty and hollow togetherness!

The theology of the glory that has been preached from the pulpit today makes it really hard for some of us people of the cross  to distinguish true believers from none believers, "Christians" from Muslims.  These "lets get along type of sermons" are attracting a lot of confused and lost Christians and Muslims together in many Mosques and mega Churches in America today.  Soon these two religions will merge together one day and become one mega Mosque/Church "worshiping" together on Friday (the Muslim holy day of worship).

Yes, the one thing these churches and Islam have in common is that they both deny the theology of the Cross.  They both teach that holiness is something to be achieved on this earth as long as we are sincere.  I sincerely believe that the person who wrote this article was  also sincere, but sincerely wrong at the same time.  If you have read this article and still believe like the writer that Christianity and Islam have more in common than what he thinks, then you are walkingroad down a very dangerous road.  You are like the sincere driver who made the wrong turn on a dark road which looks right to him at that time but at the end it leads to death Proverbs 14:12.  It does not matter how sincere the Muslim's love for Jesus as a prophet or for others is,  without their faith  in the blood of Jesus alone  in the Bible as God's absolute and eternal word alone,  they will sincerely not have eternal life. If you really believe like the writer of this article that we have more in common than we think, this is your wake up call.  It  is time for you to leave your Mosque and find yourself a church that preaches and teaches the way of the Cross instead of way of glory.

Islam agrees with the Bible that Jesus was born in Bethlehem from a virgin, but at the same time denies his deity as the son of God.  The Quran claims that Jesus is the son of Mary not the son of God and curses those who believe in the Trinity. The Quran denies the crucifixion (Quran chapter 4:157) and orders Muslims to crucify themselves in holy war (in Jihad)  and fight The People of the Book,(Quran chapter 9:29)  believing they are rendering a service to Allah.  Jesus warned his disciples about this in John 16:2-4.  The Quran agrees that Jesus came to the cradle in the city of Bethlehem but denies his suffering and death on the Cross of Calvary to save sinners from eternal death.  Rather than committing wrong, Jesus calls his disciples to suffer wrong and pick up their crosses and follow him. Please read the story below for a real life illustration.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A week ago, a bomb went off in the heart of a small city (Mosul), North of  Iraq, destroying a big building and tearing down the walls of a small church in the area. A few hours later, I received a local phone call from Yuhanna,  the associate pastor of our first Arabic Church of All Nations here at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dallas, Texas.  He was in tears because three of his uncles and their 18 children lived in that same building and they have suffered major damage and have been forced to live in the cold streets of Mosul.
These families and their children  lost everything they posses,  including their own homes.  For this reason they called and ask their relatives who are present members at the Arabic Church Of All Nations for prayers and support in order to buy food and blankets to feed their hungry children and keep them warm this Christmas. The Iraqi government in the city of Mosul has kept silent with the problem the entire time and has not done anything to help these families yet.  Please keep our local refugee families here in Dallas and their brothers and sisters in Iraq in your prayers.  Please consider making a special Christmas donation this year and make a difference in the Kingdom of Christ.  POBLO-TX is collecting donations from all churches to help feed and keep these families out of the cold streets of Mosul and keep the church alive.
NOTE: As we were putting the final touch on this eNews Letter, we had news that the same church and the families in the area were again attacked for the second time in less than two weeks.
To God be the  Glory!
Muslim and Christian refugee children coming together in Christ indeed...
For most American children, Christmas brings with it a plethora of gifts.  These gifts are soon mixed with toys and clothes from previous Christmases, birthdays, and other occasions, only to be retrieved for the family's annual yard sale.  But for our refugee children, Christmas gifts are different. Upon walking into a refugee home, a visitor will notice one thing - emptiness.  The living room may contain a sofa or chair, but rarely both.  The bedrooms will have too few mattresses laying on the floors, often without linens.  And toys?  There are no toys; perhaps a stuffed animal or torn book here or there, but no puzzles, games, dolls, or trucks.
Because of this emptiness, the ESL Christmas party brought amazing joy to the refugee children.  First, the children played with the ma
gnificent toys in the fellowship hall: blocks, puzzles, crayons, games - a little piece of heaven on earth to these needy children.
Then it was time to receive their angel-tree Christmas gifts.  The children g
athered with anticipation, squealing with delight as their names were called: A toy car and sweatshirt for one, a Barbie and skirt for another.  Oh how their eyes sparkled.  More than one child refrained from opening their gifts, hugging them to their chests, afraid of losing the magic that comes inside a package sealed in a box.
This moment - Muslin and Christian refugee children blessed with much needed toys and clothes - this moment was given to these children by you members of Our Redeemer.  By opening up your church home to this party, by opening up your wallets to buy these gifts, and by opening up your hearts to pray for these children, you gave these children a Christmas they won't forget.  You showed Christ's love through your generosity.  Our thanks go out to you.  You are a true blessing to our refugee children.
Feed my sheep
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:16
With the holiday season upon us - our families need help now more than ever. The response has been overwhelming from some of our local churches in keeping food on our shelves,  but our food pantry keeps running out of food.  This is a good problem and we thank the Lord for that.
We can't feed these starving families without your help.  We will provide all necessary material to promote this Emergency food drive in your church. If you are interested in partnering with us to help organize a food drive, please contact our office at 214-368-1371 ext 241.
Every once in a while, life hands you a beautiful gift. I received one the other evening when I attended a Thanksgiving celebration for a group of ESL students at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. They were from all over the world -- South America, Iraq, Morocco, Korea, Myanmar (Burma), the Ukraine and more. We shared turkey, and they brought food from their countries. We told the story of the turkey wishbone, and every culture had its own stories regarding the wishbone. We shared joy, laughter, songs and love. Those memories will stay with me forever.   One of the songs we sang was, "It's a Small World." The song goes, "There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware it's a small world after all." Wouldn't it be nice if we could live like that every day, everywhere sharing joy and love, instead of spreading hatred? The experience of that evening was profound. I wish I could share its beauty with everyone.
