The Situation
Enumclaw, Washington is a rural community of just over 11,000 residents, located en route to the north entrances of Mount Rainier National Park. The proximity to the park, as well as to Crystal Mountain ski resort, brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area; but most of these people pass right through Enumclaw, rarely stopping to spend time or money in the community.
Enumclaw desired to not only change that and attract some of the $11.5 billion in annual tourism spending in the state, but also to enhance the quality of life for its residents, create a unique identity for the city, and foster a vibrant downtown that would retain its much appreciated rural appeal. To this end, Enumclaw retained Destination Development International to help them create a comprehensive Branding, Product Development and Marketing Action plan, providing the steps to meet their goals.
