Angels Camp, CA:
Redefining the Rush

The Situation
Angels Camp, made famous in 1862 with Mark Twain's "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," is located in the foothills of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. Situated at the junction of Highways 49 and 4, this town of 3,100 has a history rich with adventure reaching back to the California Gold Rush days.

With a struggling downtown and increased competition in California's Gold Hills, the city, working with the local business community, has been looking for ways to make downtown, and the community at large, a destination for both local residents and visitors to the area, who currently tend to pass through Angels Camp without stopping, heading to other nearby destinations.
