NEIGHBOR'S EXCHANGE IN GAITHERSBURG

Deputy Director
The Deputy Director is responsible for the day to day implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of the organization's innovative approach to community building and community change in the context of extreme diversity. The Director will also lead and manage the creation of a human resources system and a strategic communications system for the entire organization, working in close partnership with the Executive Director and the Director of Operations and other administrative/program managers. IMPACT Silver Spring seeks an organized, skilled, and proactive self-starter to support all general organizational administrative functions of this dynamic and quickly growing organization, as well as directly supporting the Executive Director.  We are looking for an individual who will enjoy being an integral member of a committed multicultural staff with a strong emphasis on teamwork and mutual support. This is a great opportunity for someone with specific interest in nonprofit or business management or community organizing/development to gain firsthand knowledge and experience. Set in Reagan-Era New York City, Angels in America is Tony Kushner's two-part epic on national themes, the AIDS crisis, and spiritual and political morality. Forum Theatre presents the play, directed by Jeremy Skidmore, that affected an entire generation for the current 2009 American landscape. A colorful array of characters become intertwined as they grapple with identity, community, guilt, intimacy, and forgiveness.

WORLD TREE LIGHTING

In conjunction with the Downtown Silver Spring, ArtSpring will host an around the world ornament making workshop from 1:00-3:00 pm for children of all ages. Ornaments will be hung on a community tree on Ellsworth Drive Plaza. Live music and seasonal refreshments will be offered from noon until 4:00 PM, featuring music by Tori Heller, an up and coming Takoma Park folk Musician at 12:00 PM and Icarus, a melodic quintet based in Silver Spring, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. HELP BOOST A CHILD'S SKILLS AND SELF ESTEEM

Interages, Inc.

Interages, Inc., a nonprofit in MontgomeryCounty, needs volunteers (ages 50+) to tutor and mentor children at public elementary, middle, and high schools (including Bethesda/Chevy Chase HS) for a committment of one-to-two hours a week. Volunteers work in a group setting, matched with an individual child, to provide friendship, encouragement, and help with reading, language, geography skills, and cultural activities. Some of the upcoming seminar topics include: Finding Federal Jobs, Como Manejar La Tension: Programa Para Una Vida Mas Saludable, Managing Your Credit, Resume that Opens Doors, and Myers Briggs Type Indicators.

The Montgomery County Bar Foundation Pro Bono Program, in partnership with Eastern Montgomery Regional Services, provides free legal advice consultations for low income residents.  The upcoming dates for the legal clinic are December 3rd and 10th. FREE SEMINAR: HOW TO FILE FOR A DIVORCE

Prince George's County Circuit Court is offering a free seminar about How to File a Divorce. This seminar is in Spanish only. People that are thinking of starting to file for a divorce or for people that have started to file but can't pay the attorney fees, should attend this seminar.
