Meet Neighbors in Gaithersburg, MD

|
In February, The Neighbors Campaign hosted a dinner with Tim Warner (left) and a group of Latino leaders at Denis Tobar's (right) restaurant in Gaithersburg.
Out of these and other new connections, four Gaithersburg residents from four different cultures and language abilities were recruited to serve in a new role called Community Connectors.
Patricia Rogers (right), and Sara Reyes (left), are two of these brave folks.
For the last five weeks, they have each spent about 15 hours per week in a new Neighborhood Service Center run by Health and Human Services but co-located with Family Services Agency, welcoming their neighbors who come in the door and helping them apply for emergency services.
With volunteers and partners on board from Silver Spring like the Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association and Community Bridges, Tim and IMPACT also reached out in Gaithersburg to an African based church called Mercy Seat Chapel where we recruited ten additional volunteers, including George Oyedele, now a lead door-knocker.

The Neighbors Campaign
The Neighbors Campaign is a unique and innovative partnership of community
members, county government, and nonprofit
organizations coming together to help ease the pain and uncertainty of these
challenging times.
It's a new way to help
connect our county's emergency services directly with the people who need them
most, and IMPACT Silver Spring
has been in the forefront helping to plan and now implement this ambitious
undertaking of 20,000 door knocks in 15 months.
This spring, IMPACT is celebrating its 10th anniversary with more than
1500 diverse members in our network. And
we could not be more proud of our first decade's work than having so many
members of this multicultural and multilingual network jump in and join our
work on the campaign. They are knocking on doors
and connecting people for critical needs that cannot be ignored, such as energy assistance, rental
assistance, and food.
We are
asking you to join the Neighbors Campaign by supporting IMPACT's work in the
community. Rekindle the support you have shown us in the past. Help us celebrate our 10th year by
making it possible for us to continue all of our work in our schools, in
our civic circles, and, especially right now, in our neighborhoods where it is
so urgently needed.
Thank you for all that
you do to support our work in the community.
Sincerely,

Frankie
