Musical Meditations on Elul
Listen to this week's music on the Beth Emet website!

Each Shabbat during the month of Elul, (the month leading up to the High Holidays) Cantor Frankel has incorporated a piece of secular music echoing the theme of the month. The Cantor has offered an introduction of the song and her thoughts on why she chose the song. The clergy has also coordinated the music text with other aspects of the service.

Be sure to visit the
Musical Meditations on Elul page, where this week's song, as well as all previous songs from the past three weeks are available online. We look forward to seeing you for the final week of this wonderfully exciting addition to our Kabbalat Shabbat service!

An Art Therapy Group for Women Who Have Experienced Pregnancy Loss

If you have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or any other form of pregnancy loss, you might find solace in this group, led by a Beth Emet member and art therapy graduate student. The loss does not have to be a recent one for this process to be helpful. Frequently, the grief over pregnancy loss is unresolved because it has never been adequately validated. The purpose of this group, which will meet weekly for 7-8 weeks, is to engage in an active mourning process, focusing on ritual objects that speak to, and can help contain our experience, while strengthening our connection to the spiritual. No experience of art making of any kind is required.

The group will meet at Beth Emet beginning after the High Holidays, with exact times and dates to be determined. If you are interested in participating, please contact Lisa D'Innocenzo at (847) 292-1602 (home) or (847) 331-2178 (cell) for more information.

Do you work for an agency that can use volunteer help? Do you want to lead one of the many projects that are planned for that day? All ideas are welcome. Watch for future Bulletin and EmetMail articles. Please contact
Jessie Macdonald for more information or to join the planning committee.
