March 16: Taxes! What's New and What to Do

This workshop is designed to educate small business owners on their federal tax responsibilities. Discussions will include what you need to know about federal taxes as it relates to your business, recordkeeping, running a business out of your home, hiring employees or independent contractors, employment taxes, Employer Identification Number (EIN) and IRS small business resources.

 

March 20 & 21: Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program Events

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses at the City Colleges of Chicago is a practical business management education program that helps small business owners develop the skills they need to grow their companies.  Participants will receive one-on-one business advising from dedicated professionals to help them develop a tailored plan for growth.  Learn how the WBDC can help you be part of this investment designed to help local small business owners create jobs and economic opportunity. Two sessions will be held where prospective applicants can hear from Goldman Sachs' representatives.

March 20 at IIT and March 21 at WBDC.

 

Learn the Five C's: cash flow, collateral, capital, character and conditions, as well as detailed information about financing through equity, debt, receivables, purchase order and leasing. This workshop will provide real wrold examples and help you determine what financing options are available to you.

March 28: Financial Smarts for Business Starts (Part of JumpStart Series)

Learn to analyze costs and revenues for your business. This workshop will address the importance of decreasing risk by employing monthly record keeping, the critical role of the tax professional/accountant, how financial analysis (record keeping) and marketing work together and the difference between cash flow and profit and loss. Learn to apply five types of financial statements and know the purpose of each statement.
