July 7: Starting a Business in Illinois (Part of JumpStart Series)Learn the pros and cons of self-employment, how to identify business opportunities and how to make the transition from job holder to business owner.  

 

July 12: The Job Description of the Boss (For Established Business Owners)

If you are the CEO or president of a growing business, you are invited to join other established business owners for an evening of networking and insights from Jay Goltz, entrepreneur and owner of Artists Frame Service, Jayson Home & Garden, Chicago Art Source, Bella Moulding and 1-800ARTWORK.COM.  Jay has been called the "voice of small business" for his unique ability to bring clarity and insight to complex, often confusing, small business challenges.

  

July 13: Webinar: Financial Do's and Don'ts Before Starting a Business

Thinking of starting a business? Learn from a WBDC Finance Specialist how early financial decisions can positively, or negatively, affect your business in the long run. This webinar will discuss topics including debt vs. equity, personal financial stability and accessing capital.  

 

July 14: Market Research (Part of JumpStart Series)

What is market research and how do you use it to assess the potential of your business idea? How do you identify your business model and determine your target market? How do you do your own market research? 

   

July 19: Marketing Your Business to the Government and Prime Contractors

Participating in the federal marketing and sales game can be an extremely frustrating and overwhelming endeavor.  This workshop will help you develop the skills to survive - and thrive - in the government contracting marketplace.  This interactive workshop will provide strategies for writing your capability statement, presenting your business to government small business specialists, developing a target list...and more. 

 

July 20: Is Certification Right for You?

Learn about certification from one of our resident experts. Local, state and federal certifications will be covered, along with the private certification offered by the Women's Business Development Center.
 

July 21: Marketing and Selling Strategies (Part of JumpStart Series)

This session addresses how to:  distinguish between selling and marketing, identify benefits for building skills in both areas, identify key forms of media that will help market your business, develop at least 3 strategies for marketing and more.

 

This event is for women business owners in the following wellness related professions: Massage Therapists, Yoga Practitioners, Integrated Medicine Physicians, Chiropractors, Nutritionists, Health and Lifestyle Coaches, Acupuncturists, Psychotherapists and other healing arts. If you are in one of the professions mentioned above and are looking to meet other successful women in the holistic health field, then this event is for you.  Success in wellness depends on collaborating with like-minded professionals to serve your clients well, so let us help you develop new referral partners.
