Winner, 2010 Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year - Rising Star Women's Business Development Center: 24th Annual Entrepreneurial Woman's Conference

Founded in 2002, Kimberlee Burt is the owner, creator and executive director of A Child's Space Early Learning Center that services over 50 children between the ages of 6 weeks and 6 years of age, located in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood.  A Child's Space provides a range of services including, a full developmentally appropriate preschool readiness curriculum with integrated sign language, hands-on cross curricular learning, regular parent and child outings, and a Night and Weekend care program.  Additionally, they recently acquired a school bus, that the children affectionately call the "Happy Bus," and plan to expand their services to include full transportation services in 2010.>>>more
12th Annual Child Care Business Expo
Planting Seeds of Growth and Resilience in the New Economy 

WBDC Honors Exemplary Child Care Providers and Activists Jeanne Neifert, Martina Rocha and Camille Gant 
The 12th Annual Child Care Business Expo (CCBE) was held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Chicago Hilton & Towers.
Over 600 providers and friends participated. The CCBE offered child care entrepreneurs a day of reflection and action, providing access to creative solutions to today's business issues and to a much needed network of resources and support. 


There was a number of panel discussions and workshops offered in both English and Spanish, with veteran providers and industry experts, including child care expert Tom Copeland.
           WBDC presented its Inaugural  Lifetime Achievement Award in Child Care: Maria Rojas and Darlene Pokorny 




Thank you to everyone that attended, participated, and helped make it a success!

Round Lake Park Business Women Wins Child Care Award
Gloria's Casita Infantil

Obtaining a license for their home based child care center in March of this year was a huge milestone for Rebeca Rodriguez and daughter Gloria Rodriguez. Since its original inception in June 2008, Gloria's Casita Infantil could only care for up to three children total. Now the home based center can open its doors to seven little ones in the morning and seven in the evening>>> more


Maravilla Home Daycare

This September will mark the Grand Opening for Maravilla Home Daycare. Adelia Torres and daughter Martha Torres are counting down the days when they will finally be able to live their dream. The pair will receive their license for the home daycare this month to care for sixteen children, eight in the morning and eight in the evening >>>more
