Community Celebration Highlights a Successful Campaign and an Investment in Change

Over 150 community members came together over the summer to  celebrate the milestones and accomplishments of the 2011-2012 campaign season and to learn more about how the North Penn United Way is making targeted community investments to reach the goals of

  • All North Penn and Indian Valley Students Succeed in School
  • All North Penn and Indian Valley Older Adults remain as Independent and Community-Connected as Possible

  •  All North Penn and Indian Valley Residents have a Strong Safety Net

The celebration, which featured inspirational musical numbers by choral members of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spring House, Pa, a theatrical performance by students from North Penn High School, and a human LIVE UNITED aerial photo (with help from Harleysville Fire Department's ladder truck), honored several individuals and local companies for their support of the United Way. Themed around the idea of LIVING UNITED, guests were introduced to ways in which they can LIVE UNITED by giving, advocating and volunteering, and were provided with details pertaining to investments being made in order to make measurable differences in the lives of the least advantaged children, families and older adults in our community. 2012 Day of Caring Sets New Record
2012 Day of Caring

On September 13th a record setting 325 volunteers from 12 companies headed out to 25 locations all with one goal in mind -- to make our community a better place.  Whether it was painting, cleaning, packing, weeding, harvesting, building, power washing or serving meals, this year's Day of Caring volunteers gave it their all.  Lead volunteer of the Day of Caring effort, Theresa Schwartzer of Univest Corporation, and her volunteer committee, worked tirelessly to match volunteers from Canon Capital, Clemens Family Corporation, Cobham, Detweiler Hershey & Associates, First Niagara, Harleysville Insurance, ITW Polymer Technologies, Merck, National Penn Bank, North Penn School District, Simco-Ion and Univest Corporation with projects in and around the North Penn and Indian Valley communities.

A special thanks to our sponsor Lowe's Home Improvement and all our volunteers!

1200 Backpacks Stuffed for Students in Need!
Stuff the Bus 2012
In keeping with our goal to ensure student success, United Way volunteers once again rallied the community and corporate partners to "Stuff the Bus" with backpacks full of school supplies so low income children could start the year off right!  The collection drive, which took place over the summer months, was extremely well supported by community members and the overall success of the intitative was due in great part to our presenting sponsor National Penn Bank and MVP supporters The Salvation Army, Costco, Harleysville Insurance CARE FORCE and Univest Corporation.
We'd like to thank the over 40 volunteers who helped with this effort and would like to give special thanks to Stuff the Bus co-chairs Betsy Roush of Roush and Associates and Denise Yannarell of Univest Corporation for their many years of leadership.

We've Been Challenged!

Harleysville Insuance has generously challeged our donors to take their giving to the next level.  Leadership level that is!

Harleysville Insurance is allowing the North Penn United Way to offer a Step-Up Challenge Program, to help donors gradually "step-up" to a Leadership level over a three-year period.  Each year, Harleysville Insurance will match the difference to help you move up a Leadership level.  All Step-Up participants will receive full membership benefits beginning the first year of participation.  Membership rewards include opportunities to connect with other donors, receive public recognition, and obtain regular updates on the impact your gift is having on our local community.  Click here for more information.
