THANK YOU BERKS COUNTY!

In an outstanding show of generosity, Berks Countians once again turned out in droves to help United Way meet the most critical needs in our community by raising $9,008,811.
"Here in Berks County, we are so fortunate to live in a community where people and organizations band together to make sure that our county remains strong, " said Mike Duff, who co-chaired this year's campaign with his wife, Diane.
Visit our website to check out the list of the lucky incentive winners and to see a list of the sponsors who made this campaign possible. And don't miss the video of this year's car winner, Ann Stufflet, picking up her 2012 Elantra at Freedom Hyundai. You can find it on our Facebook page.

Tax Preparation Volunteers Needed
Help working individuals and families keep more of what they earn with the Berks $ in Your Pocket Coalition, a coordinated effort of organizations and volunteers who make it possible to provide free tax preparation services to eligible individuals. During 2011, people just like you helped over 3,700 Berks County individuals and families claim over $3 million dollars in tax refunds including $710,044 in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). In these difficult economic times, it is more important than ever to reach out and help low to moderate income individuals and families receive the refunds they deserve. If you would like to learn more about how just one hour of your volunteer time can boost a family's income by $1,200 or more, click here. No tax preparation experience is necessary. Training is provided. Various days and times are available to volunteer, including evenings and weekends. |

Need Help? Call 211

People often do not know where to look or who to call for essential human services, such as locating child care, finding quality care for aging parents, needing assistance to meet basic needs or job training programs. 2-1-1 centers are staffed by trained specialists who assess the callers' needs and refer them to the help they seek. In addition, the call center specialists facilitate calls and questions from those interested in volunteering or donating items, such as food and clothing. To learn more about 211, visit our website or download a flyer. |
