This is the second consecutive four-star rating for United Way of Berks County, an achievement reached by only twenty percent of the organizations reviewed by Charity Navigator. This achievement signifies United Way's consistent execution of its mission in a fiscally responsible way. |

| United Way of Berks County would like to recognize the individuals and teams who work so diligently to make Berks County a better place; those who best exemplify what it means to Live United.
We know many of you give of your time, and we believe you are continuously inspired because of the experiences you have had volunteering. If you deliver Meals on Wheels, or serve as a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, tell us more. If you know someone who has organized a collection for one our agency partners, let us know the details and take pictures showing the end-result of the effort. | | Volunteers Create Snack Packs for Providence House Seniors |
Employees from East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc. and Alcon Research, Ltd. were among the volunteers | Employees from United Way's Top 10 companies recently donated snack items and created special care packages for the seniors at Providence House in Reading. The snack packs were then hand-delivered to residents of the senior high-rise by employees from many of those same companies.
The activity, which was held in conjunction with
Resident Arlene Levan was one of many residents happy to see the volunteers | Berks Encore, was a special opportunity for volunteers not only to provide much-needed items to the seniors, but also to spend quality time talking to the residents. The time spent with the seniors gave the volunteers a better understanding of why their efforts were so important, and gave them the opportunity see first-hand the impact of their work.
