Drying Process for Water Damage
  Things You Want to Know

At ServiceMaster All Care Restoration, our goal is to quickly restore your property.  Depending upon the situation, the water damage drying and restoration process can require up to three phases before being  completed.

Phase One - Emergency Service

In Phase One our trained technicians will determine if your flooring is salvageable and can be dried in place.  If so, we will use our specialized equipment (pictured above)to extract as much water as possible.  Here are a few important tips:

  • Our specialized technicians will use penetrating and non-penetrating meters to detect moisture in the structure of your home.
  • The technicians will use both high velocity air movers and dehumidifiers to dry the carpet and sub-floor and structure as quickly as possible.
  • In order to ensure complete drying, this special drying equipment must be left on for the designated amount of time.

The next two phases address reinstalling restored carpeting and addressing any structural damage.  Click here to view all three phases in more detail.

AirWolf/Wolf Pack System
  Specialized Drying Equipment

The AirWolf/WolfPack System is the ultimate solution to drying hardwood floors. It uses a combination of static pressure to force air out of damaged hardwood floors. The WolfPack attachment kit directs the high-velocity airflow into the flutes between the subfloor and the hardwood flooring. This airflow drives the moisture up through the floor, drying it from the bottom of the floor up to the surface.

The bottom-up drying process can actually dry a hardwood floor in as little as three days. The process can also reduce, if not eliminate, cupping of the floor. This will, in turn, reduce associated refinishing costs.

  What's Growing Out There?

It's been crazy hot this month, but believe it or not there are still some summer vegetables which can weather the heat in our area. To make sure you get the most out of your August veggies, don't trim your plants for another month to prevent sunburn. Now is prime time to sow corn, eggplant, peas, summer squash, tomatoes.

Here's a light and easy recipe to help you enjoy this summer's squash:  Simply Sautéed Summer Squash:

  • 4 small summer squash or 2 to 3 medium
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth or chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 3 or 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • about a dozen medium basil leaves, cut chiffonade*
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Preparation:
*To cut chiffonade, stack the leaves, roll up tightly, and slice thinly.  Spray a large skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat . Saute the sliced summer squash, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes. Add the vegetable broth to the skillet and continue cooking and stirring for a few minutes longer, until almost tender. Add the garlic and green onions and continue cooking and stirring until tender but still a bit firm. Stir in the basil and add salt and pepper to taste.

- ServiceMaster All Care Restoration of Phoenix will identify items requiring special handling such as: family heirlooms, art, photos, area rugs, sentimental and/or work related items. We work with experts to ensure your items are restored back to their pre-loss condition.

-  Standard moving industry boxes, packing materials and supplies are used to pack the contents and protect the furniture in transport and in storage.

-  Our restoration process of all boxed items and furniture includes cleaning, deodorizing, repairing or servicing.  Once complete, items our repacked and re-wrapped for storage.

-  The items are then placed back into the secure storage vaults until the repairs or reconstruction is completed and they can be moved back into the home or business.
