| New Member Interactive Software Soon! |
2011 is going to be a great year for the Chamber and it's members. Staff is hard at work preparing for software that will streamline processes and allow staff more time to dedicate to you, our members. This software will be member interactive, allowing YOU to update information about your business! It will also allow more opportunities to promote your business! Most members have received a phone call asking for imformation updates and the number of employees at your businesses. We need your employee count for the new simplified member investment schedule. The new base fee will be $225 for businesses with up to 10 employees, with an additional $3 per employee after 10. Associate memberships, some small non-profits, small home based businesses and additional businesses will be $100 per year. Maximum investment for base businesses will be $1,000. Some members will see a small increase and some a slight decrease in their investmestment. Each Member that renews their membership in 2011 will recieve vouchers for two training/education sessions provided by the Chamber. More information will follow on these and other new member benefits in 2011. |

Meet Your Chamber Board ~ New for 2011 | |

Edna Turner is employed with Industrial Equipment. Turner also oversees operations of Badland's Steel, Grizzly Wire Rope & Chain, and EcoAFS. Edna has 10 years in the oil and gas industry directly within the area of the Gulf of Mexico relating to all aspects from Operations, Safety, Training, and Technology. Turner's working knowledge of the oil and gas industry has been a sure footing here in Williston allowing her to be an added resource. "We have seen growth and have felt growing pains, but we are here and holding strong to provide our clientele with the ongoing customer service that we pride ourselves in", Edna says regarding the local economy.
In her spare time she provides her services as a Cajun Caterer. "I love to feed people, it's a passion, a part of my heritage as a Cajun from Acadiana", Turner speaks regarding her life's first passion. "The Acadians live life through one motto, "Joie de vivre", the love of life. If you don't love it, it's not worth it. Growing up in South Louisiana along the Atchafalaya Basin fishing as a child, crabbing on the Chenier and Refuge of the Gulf Coast, to making boudin and cracklin on her parents farm. We work hard and we play hard. These times have given me compassion for the little things and the strive to achieve what might seem impossible. "
Edna, her husband Mickey, daughter Ellie Mae (11), and son Herbert (9) have chosen downtown Williston as home, "We treasure the small town atmosphere where we are able to raise our family with a piece of mind. The kids can walk to the movies on Saturday afternoon and we don't worry." We have enjoyed participating in the many fundraising activities locally like the Relay for Life, Band Day, and The Rib Cook Off." Edna has participated in organizations such as the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Relay for Life, and United Way, in her hometown and hopes to continue to be an added resource to Williston. |

Have you ever sighed, with some exasperation, "Kids today, they just don't get it!" Perhaps you've even sighed the same exasperation about the adults connected with our recent financial crises. You can help kids, right now in today's economy, understand basic financial principles that impact their lives. And because you are equipped with so many colorful materials and fun learning activities from Junior Achievement, they actually look forward to learning with you! It's true. All it requires is a resounding "Sign me up!" and you'll be on your way to making five rewarding visits to a classroom near you. Call Jenna Pierce at 577-6000 to discuss which age level would be the most fun. You can choose any from fun loving first graders to savvy middle schoolers. We'll give you all the help you need. A child may always remember you for the valuable life lessons you taught them.
