"Now the danger is over, now the toil has ceased, now the gloom has disappeared, now the firmament is bounded only by the horizon, and what a vast expanse of constellations can be see! The river rolls by us in silent majesty; the quiet of the camp is sweet; our joy is ecstasy. We sit long after midnight talking of the Grand Canyon, talking of home."

Powell's Journal, Major John Wesley Powell

The Grand Canyon of the Colorado, April 14-28, 2013

Greetings. Our endeavor to bring you the finest trips, continues into our 18th year of offering the best trips in the Himalaya, and now, oevrseas.  We are excited about this, as even arm chair adventurers would be. The Grand canyon of the Colorado is a big name, and regarded as one of the most well known adventures on the planet.... we believe it is with good reason.

Travelling 2 weeks downriver, running the Colorado river is only one facet of this colossal adventure. We get a chance to explore the Grand Canyon from within, with its scenic side hikes and spectacular waterfalls, retracing the expedition of Major John Wesley Powell in 1867. Visiting ancient Indian ruins, the Throne Room, Redwall Cavern, Havasu Creek, Deer Creek, besides running the big names like "Crystal" and "Lave Falls", or the giant waves of "Hermit", are only some of the hidden gems of this epic.

Expect to be surprised each day, as you have the canyon more to yourselves, feel spring in the air, as you visit one of the most incredible corners on earth.  The Colorado River drainage and the Grand Canyon developed over 40 million years, however, the rock strata the river cuts though represent more than a third of the earth's 4.6 billion year history.  The Grand Canyon is a relatively recent surface feature etched into the face of a far older world.

Email us if you feel the need to  escape into yet another realm of our shrinking planet.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
