Siang River, Arunachal Pradesh
Are you up for a personal challenge this year?
Dear Adventure Traveler,

Summer is truly here, and if you have not planned your getaway yet, our summer base in the Tons valley, Camp Lunagad,  is up and running, and offers a little known of hideaway into one of northern India's most picturesque valleys.  You could join us there if you hurry.

Presenting the most varied range of Himalayan river expeditions on offer, you have several options to join us on pristine river journeys, with high adrenaline daylight action and pleasant evenings under the open night sky.

Our Himalayan options spread over several areas of interest, but all have one thing in common - days of amazing fun, spectacular scenery and exhilirating whitewater rafting thrills on northern India's premier wilderness rivers. Add fascinating cultures, diverse ethnic populations, hikes, fishing, opportunities to paddle your own inflatable kayak, and the privilege to unwind in a stunning Himalayan valley, and you have your very own life expedition.   Our trips are guaranteed to run and not merely names and dates that never see light of day, so you can make plans, from wishing for calm float sections right out of Jungle Book, to frenzied paddling down 30-foot wave trains..

You will travel with the best hands in the business, with career guides, for whom sharing these journeys with you, is not  a job, but a way of life. For a start, we are the only outfitters offering this large repertoire, so you can lie back by the campfire, make new friends, exchange stories of past adventures, or play a game of dizzy-sticks, while our team does the rest ! When you travel with us, you are not on a 'flash in the pan' one-off trip, instead you embark upon one of a journey unmatched in scale, safety, and experience. All the trips listed are open for the first time rafter to the river veteran.

We hope to share one of our special Himalayan valleys with you this year !    Only Indian Outfitter to be listed 2 years in a row since 2008 !

Happy Paddling!

Sincerely,

Vaibhav Kala
LAST CALL ! Aug 8-19, 2009    The Ladakh-Zanskar Expedition

Pensi La, the entrance into Zanskar
Our "special" yearly feature drives through most of western Ladakh, monasteries, palaces, villages, hikes and travel to one of the most surreal places on the planet. The trip begins with a flight over the Himalayas into the Trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. We spend a couple of days in Leh town acclimatizing at 11,000  Suru Valleyfeet above sea level and visiting the ancient monasteries, palaces and villages around Leh. We then drive west of Leh past the town of Kargil and travel south into the valley of Zanskar,
one of the coldest inhabited places on  Horses at Rangdumearth. Starting the trip on the Stod river, we begin our self contained multi-day river adventure down the spectacular and scenic Zanskar river gorge. Honya Camp, Zanskar river The trip takes you down the extremely desolate, remote and sheer Zanskar gorge with walls rising a few thousand feet out of the river bed, culminating on the mighty Indus river, (which incidentally lends India its name).
Undoubtedly a classic, this journey to the last truly lost horizon of our shrinking planet - Zanskar, the "land of white copper" is a trip of a lifetime.

Maha Kali - Sarda expedition Nov 2-10, 2009

Below JauljibeeThe Mahakali / Sarda river forms the international border between India and Nepal in its upper reaches in the Kumaon Himalaya. A self-contained river journey down this river is one of the prime options in this part of the Himalaya. A trip straight out of Jungle Book, with over a 100 kms of wilderness on this trip, the river flows past terraced farms of Kumaoni and Nepali villages, fresh water streams, sandy beaches, thick tropical jungles, plantations as we travel downstream through the terai belt negotiating exciting white water. With the Mahseer making it an angler's delight, the lack of road access makes it a complete wilderness journey. Flowing past the terai hills after densely forested hillsides, this trip is an outdoor wilderness experience in a league of its own.

Subansari River, THE LAST DESCENT                          Dec 21, 2009 - Jan 2, 2010

Nacho rapidPossibly the last descent of this beautiful river, coming under a big dam by 2010, the river has no road artery linking it on either side of the Great Himalayan Range spanning about 150 km. Very difficult terrain with vertical rock faces with only very sparse inhabitation in the belt has kept and continue to keep the upper reaches of this challenging river isolated.  This beckoning river is challenging and demanding. Set in a scenic breathtaking environment astride the Eastern Himalayas with its diverse warm-hearted hill people with their unique traditions and customs spread over a millennia, with the inevitable change encroaching upon them rapidly, certainly a great way to ring in the new year. Sadly, the Subansari will be lost to us forever, so come get yourself a piece for posterity.
