Mint Creek Farm
Here are the Fall Events at Mint Creek Farm, 2010.

Mint Creek Farm's Fall Festival
Saturday, October 30, 2010

Following in the great Celtic tradition, we at Mint Creek Farm would like to invite you to the farm for our Fall Harvest Festival to celebrate this wonderful time of year.

Celtic Year
The Celtic Year
Two thousand years ago the Celts celebrated the festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in) marking the end of the 'lighter half' of the year and the beginning of the 'darker half'.  It was end of the harvest season which meant time to take stock of the herds and grain supplies and decide which animals would need to be slaughtered to ensure the survival of the people and other livestock through the cold, winter days.  A festival of feasting, dancing and bonfires would commence to celebrate the last gasp of summer.

Caldereta
Caldereta
The international menu promises to be spooktacular.

Chef Guia Hoffman of Greenhouse Bed and Breakfast will offer savory Caldereta.  This is a delicious Filipino dish which incorporates roasted Mint Creek Farm goat meat and locally grown vegetables with a slow cooked tomato reduction and spices.

Chef Tamiz Haiderali of Treat Restaurantwill be preparing his special slow braised Mint Creek lamb shanks with Indian spices served with Chana Masala (Roasted Chick Peas and potatoes) on a bed of Basmati Rice.

Check out the rest of the menu using locally grown vegetables whenever possible:
  • Toe warming Swiss chard and potato soup topped with Mint Creek Farm Sausage
  • Beautiful red and green cabbage slaw
  • Roasted winter squash and root vegetables: parsnips (my personal favorite), carrots, and sweet potatoes
  • Melt-in-your-mouth chocolate brownies
  • Creamy pumpkin pie-wouldn't be a harvest party without it
Feel free to bring your favorite wine or beer.

Starting at 2:00PM, hay wagon farm tours will leave from located just down the road from Mint Creek Farm. It will also be the spot for the dinner and the bonfire.  Cost is $35 for adults and $15 for children 5-12 years old. Click here for directions.
