Greetings!

I hope you are having a great start to 2009 and I hope to continue to help you with your blogging needs.

I am now starting to feel better! Yeah!  I am 15 weeks pregnant and just got over a bad flu virus. But before that my first trimester was awful and I was sick often.  So, with that behind me I'm looking forward to a wonderful 2 more trimesters of pregnancy and can't wait until Spring!!!!

In this newsletter you will learn how to add sidebar items to you blogs.  This issue is more suited towards Stampin' Up! demonstrators and we will be using images from Michelle Laycock's site, www.laycockdesigns.com

With the way Michelle now creates, stores, and shares her Stampin' Up! images, it is now easier then ever before to update your sidebars when new promotions or catalogs are released - learn how below (Blogger, Typepad, and WordPress).

DID YOU KNOW....

....That in Blogger you can change your blog to a three column format without losing anything in your sidebar!

I have used this website many times:

http://www.threecolumnblogger.com/

I often use the Minima format when redesigning customer's blogs and setting up the 3 column format, but this website has instructions on many Blogger layouts and making them three columns.
A Blogger Tip

Adding a New Sidebar Item

Michelle Laycock, www.laycockdesigns.com, creates many beautiful buttons for Stampin' Up! demonstrators (and can create business buttons, icons, logso for all those non-stamping business owners).

You can now quickly use her images and code and create a new sidebar item in Blogger.

Add an HTML Gadget

  • Login to Blogger.
  • From the Dashboard, click on Layout.
  • Click or go to Page Elements.
  • Click Add a Gadget.
  • Choose HTML/JavaScript from the list.
  • For Title you can enter a title for the promotion, such as Sale-a-bration Time (for the current Sale-a-bration promotional period going on now until March 31st).
  • Then in the large text box area you will copy and paste the code for the button you want from Michelle's website (www.laycockdesigns.com).  Under the buttons, she has all the HTML code you will need - includes the image and the link.
  • Save Changes.
  • Drag and drop where you want the new sidebar item.
  • Save.
  • You're done!

Add a Notes Typeplist

  • Login to Typepad.
  • Click on Typelists (green tab).
  • Click on the white text "Create a New Typelist".
  • Choose NOTES from the List Type.
  • For Title enter a title for your sidebar item such as It's Sale-a-bration Time!
  • Then click the Create New Typelist button.
  • You can leave Label blank, or in this example you could write either "Feb 1st - March 31st" or "Choose any item FREE for every $50 in product you spend!".
  • In the Notes section, copy and paste all the HTML Code under the desired button you want from Michelle's website (www.laycockdesigns.com).
  • Save Changes.
  • Since this is a new Typelist, you have to now click the Publish Tab.
  • Then put a checkmark next to your weblog name and click Save Changes.
  • Then click on the blue text link "Content". This brings you to the layout of your blog and the new item was most likely added to the bottom of your left sidebar. Click and drag where you want it to be.
  • Save changes.
  • You're done!
