| Greetings!
It's that time of the month again and I'm sorry it's a little late but this newsletter is full of great stuff!
First, Michelle Laycock and I now offer "clickable" banners or also known as navigation bars. If you look at my blog, www.blogsbyheather.com (a Typepad blog) and www.handstampedbyheather.com (a Blogger blog) you can now see that I added a banner at the bottom - that you can click on! Of course, this is a standard look but Michelle can create any look to match your existing banner or create a new one for you. For example, you can have a folder/tab look, buttons, or have the navigation bar on the bottom, top, along the side...it's a great new ability to add to you blog. For more information view my post here:
Okay, so enjoy the rest of the newsletter - my Did You Know, the Blogger Tip and the Typepad Tip!
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions about my services or just need help!
Sincerely,

DID YOU KNOW....
FREE Image Editing Program
There is a FREE program you can to crop, resize, and add a watermark to your images (Windows). You don't need to go out and buy Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (at least not right now with the economy the way it is at the moment) - you have another alternative!
If you haven't seen it on my blog recently or if you missed it, please read this tutorial on using a free program that you can download that can help you resize images quickly, plus add the watermark!
Tutorial:
I don't have a Mac but I hear that iWatermark is a free program to add your watermark and I believe iPhoto can help with resizing and maybe cropping your images.

| A Blogger Tip
How to add a background
- First you have to have an image created - one you did yourself or by Michelle Laycock or other designer.
- Then, create a post and insert the image in the post like you would any other card or project.
- Save it as a DRAFT (you do not have to Publish it unless you want to make an announcement to your blog visitors).
- Then view the post (via Edit Post), and right-click on the image and choose Properties.
- Select the entire path in the Target area...it should start with http:// and end with .jpg most likely. Select it and then Copy it (CTRL + C in Windows).
- Now, from the Dashboard, go to Layout, then Edit HTML.
- Scroll down a little and look for the BODY tag....something like this
without the URL. You need to add the url(); and paste the Target in between the parenthesis.
body { background: #ffffff url(http://bp1.blogger.com/_wgXHmVY8RgU/SHLrihcjM9I/AAAAAAAAAXI/ANt5J_64Qck/s200/heatherborder6.jpg); margin:0; color:#333333; font:x-small Georgia Serif; font-size/* */:/**/small; font-size: /**/small; text-align: center; }
- Click to save changes and viola!

A Typepad Tip
How to add a background
- First, you have to have the Pro package, the $14.95 a month package. This allows you access to the Custom CSS under the Design tab.
- Then, you must have the image you want to use (again one you created yourself or had someone like Michelle Laycock or other designer design).
- Upload the image to your Typepad account (Control Panel, Files, Browse for the image and then click Upload).
- Once uploaded, click on the name of the image on the left and it pops-up a window.
- Select the entire URL address and Copy it.
- Go to the Design Tab, then Custom CSS and type the following for example:
body { background: url(http://heatherporto.typepad.com/background.jpg); }
- You need to Paste the URL from your Typepad account where my path is!
- Save changes.
- Republish your blog and you're done.
