| Greetings!
By now you have all visited Blogs by Heather and I am so happy you have registered for my newsletter. Thank you for your support and I hope you are learning a lot from my blog.
But, if you don't find something you are looking for, please feel free to contact me, heather@blogsbyheather.com, or enter it under "Ask a Question" under the Pages menu.
In addition to offering blog development services, I also offer newsletter services (Constant Contact), http://www.blogsbyheather.com/constant-contact-newslett.html. I would be more than happy to help you with that as well (whether it is developing one newsletter to get you started or to continue building them for you monthly). The price has been reduced to $15 per newsletter!
Lastly, I also offer blog "updates". This is when a new catalog or promotion is released, or maybe you need me to add Domain Mapping to your Typepad account, or want to add a Gallery. These updates are $5 per update (discounted when multiple updates are needed). Contact me if you don't need a blog setup but would like me to "update" your blog in some "little" way.
I don't want throw any more at ya --- so please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions about my service or just need help!
Sincerely,

DID YOU KNOW....
Some basic differences between Blogger and Typepad blogs. When I start the blog design process, part of it is determining which platform is best for my customer. Here are some of the things that help us make that decision:
Here are some pros and cons on each platform. Feel free to contact me to ask more questions: heather@blogsbyheather.com Pros for Blogger
- Free.
- Easy to use.
- Can have banners and backgrounds at no extra charge, no upgrade (free). Meaning if you were to have my blog www.handstampedbyheather.com as a Typepad blog, you'd have to pay $14.95 a month just because of the background design.
Cons for Blogger
- Does not have a file manager to upload files. Although there are some free online sources you can use to store PDFs and such that you can later link to from your Blogger blog (such as www.xdrive.com and others).
- Does not have a "Feature This Post" which keeps a specified post at the top for as long as it is considered "featured post". Notice when you to my typepad blog, www.blogsbyheather.com, that the first post regarding my new Blog and Newsletter Services remains the first post you see.
- Does not have "Pages". While viewing www.blogsbyheather.com you will see "Pages" listed in the upper left corner/sidebar. These I use to list my services. They are not posts although similar. Some people do a similar thing using Categories in Blogger.
- Does not have Domain Mapping. See my explanation of this on www.blogsbyheather.com (Domain Mapping vs. Domain Gripping vs. Domain Forwarding). This isn't a big deal to most.
Pros for Typepad
- More layouts in layout gallery, more templates to choose from (especially the 3 column format).
- Has a file manager.
- Allows for Domain Mapping.
- Has a built in Gallery (although Blogger now has Picasa Web Albums as it's gallery --- see my gallery on www.handstampedbyheather.com).
- Has Pages.
- Has the Feature This Post.
- Has a Widget Gallery (for Blogger you just have to use the HTML/JavaScript Page Element to do the same thing).
- The Plus package allows for 3 blogs under your account. The Pro allows for unlimited blogs under one account. Since Blogger is free you can create as many blogs as you want.
Cons for Typepad
- $4.95 for basic. To have a custom banner is $8.95. To have a background is $14.95.
- Not as easy to use as Blogger in some ways.
So, it depends on what you are really use the blog for. Check out both of mine: www.handstampedbyheather.com is a BLOGGER blog. My www.blogsbyheather.com is a TYPEPAD blog. Both are similar and look the same but also different. Both have the sign up for my newsletter, both have sign up for my blog, both have Categories and such.

A Typepad Tip
Creating a Landing Page:
- Create a page as you normally do in Typepad (from the Quick Start menu, click Pages under the desired weblog. Then choose Compose, then click on New Page).
- John Sanpietro would use this page like a Table of Contents which includes links to other articles/posts and other pages on your blog.
- Save and Publish the page as you normally do.
- Now, to make it a "landing page", click on the green Configure tab.
- Then click on Preferences (to the right side).
- Right at the top, Front Page Preferences, click on the second option which allows you to choose which page you want as your front page (which is a landing page).
- Then Save Changes.
- This will stay in place until you change it.
