Exclusive: Condo Sales Soar in February
We are really excited about the amount of interested people coming to check out BartonPlace so far this year - and our sales prove it - with a steady increase in volume sold each month!

There is lots of evidence that the Austin real estate market should be improving: inbound migration rates are extraordinarily high. Job growth is back. Inventory is declining. Rental rates are soaring. February's sales provide the first evidence that the market may be improving.
We've updated the AustinTowers | urbanspace Downtown Austin Condo Market Index for January and February, 2011. In January, the market was flat -- 6 units were sold at a slightly higher average price but a slightly lower price per square foot. Average days on market was very long.

Austin 2nd Best Job Market
Austin Business Journal
March 15, 2011

Austin ranked high on another job market listing, taking the second slot on an employment outlook report released on Tuesday.
Ajilon Professional Staffing named Austin the second best place to find a job in the U.S., according to a U.S. Department of Labor statistics analysis and staffing trends nationally. The recruiting and workforce solutions firm cited Austin's lower than average unemployment rate - 7.3 percent - diversity of industries, and rich talent pool.
The company also considered cost of living, the number of businesses hiring, and the education level of residents.
Austin has often been picked for similar lists. One last month from Business Review USA named Austin one of the eight best places to live and work in the U.S. Forbes called the city the third best job market in the U.S. in January. The publication also ranked Austin No. 1 last year for economic recovery, 8th best for business and careers, No. 2 most innovative and 10th best place for for young professionals, among other rankings.
Minneapolis-St. Paul topped the Ajilon Staffing ranking released on Tuesday, in large part due to an uptick in hiring by large financial services, health care, retail, and manufacturing.

Bar Lamar at Whole Foods Downtown
Yes, it's a bar in the wine section of a grocery store. But in case you're not from around these parts, the Whole Foods at 6th + Lamar is no ordinary grocery store. Seriously, we would live here if we could.
Bar Lamar features more than 20 wines by the glass and offers several wines on tap. We didn't even know wine on tap was a thing, but apparently it both helps keep the wine fresh and reduces waste. Wine flights are ridiculously affordable ($6-8), so let the wine flow, friends!
If beer's more your style, try one of the craft beers on tap - preferably a local selection from Independence Brewing Co. or Live Oak Brewing Company.
So yes, you're technically in a grocery store. But on the plus side, you have the delectable bounty of Whole Foods at your disposal! Order a cheese plate at the bar, or bring any number of delicious nibbly things over to the counter while you enjoy your libations.

Noon to 10 p.m. daily

Vermeers -- Allan Gil
Rick Poss and Allan Gill founded the Vermeers as a duo late in 2007 for fun. They performed their first show in December of that year. Poss and Gill experimented with various configurations and guest musicians, eventually teaming with standout artists Mike Reynolds and Agnes Clementine.
Raised by Pandas
Raised by Pandas is the creation of singer-songwriter Anthony Salerno. After coming out of his self-imposed retirement in 2007, Anthony began singing and playing again around Austin coffee shops under the stage name, Raised by Pandas. In 2008 Mel Ziolkowski joined Raised by Pandas and from there the Panada Movement was born. Anthony's genuine soulfulness infused with a low-fi sensibility has connected with anyone who's bothered to take the time to listen.

Purly Gates
Purly Gates' repertoire as a singer/songwriter/educator is as diverse as her experience: from an Earth Day concert at Disney World or a Residency in Micronesia funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, to national touring and local prominence. She enchants audiences of all ages, actively engaging her listeners with relevant, appropriate material covering subjects from peace to pizza, environment to retirement.
Lizzi & The Lovers
The Lovers were born from a family of friends deep within the oasis of the Texas Hill Country. In the Christmas of 2004, embracing the spirit of creation rather than consumption, they made a holiday album for their families. They decided the music should continue, and the band emerged. Three singers, electric and acoustic guitars, a lilting flute, imaginative percussion and steady bass make for a vibrant, ever-changing sound. Conscious lyrics complete the experience. Let yourself be loved!

Zilker Park Boat Rentals
From www.ZilkerBoats.com

BartonPlace residents enjoy amenities like kayak and canoe rentals on Lady Bird Lake - all within walking distance from their front door.
Zilker Park Boat Rentals was established in 1969, shortly after Howard Barnett drove across the Lamar Street bridge and noticed the beauty and serenity of Town Lake (now Lady Bird Lake). He wanted to share that beauty with the town he loved, so he opened a canoe rental on the banks of a creek, just downstream from Barton Springs Swimming Pool. He and his wife, Dorothy, and their four-year-old daughter rented out their nine canoes on weekends while Howard worked for the Texas Park and Wildlife Department. Together they built the business to the environmentally friendly and family oriented establishment that it is today. With over 100 canoes and kayaks and reasonable prices, Zilker Park Boat Rentals is the perfect place to bring friends and family to enjoy a relaxing outing on the water.
