Q. If lightening strikes an orchestra, who is most likely to get hit?

Sally has been gifted with a rare musical talent and an extremely high I.Q. She also has been diagnosed as bi-polar. She hasn't been able finish anything she starts; her emotional outbursts, when frustrated are legendary, and her parents wonder if she'll ever be able to live as an independent young woman. She is now 30 years old.

Then in God's divine providence, Sally and her parents heard about the LGS Neuro-Educational Program. After some investigation and conversation with one of our neuro-educational specialists, they decided to sign up for an ND Evaluation. She told the evaluator, they had decided to try this approach based on what others were telling them about "successful cases". She and her parents hoped Little Giant Steps could help her eliminate functional symptoms that had robbed her of being able to be who she really was, or could be. They were ready to invest in Sally's future through the LGS Neuro-Educational Program.

When Sally met with the neuro-educational specialist, she related how she'd struggled always with being able to follow written music. Despite her great gift, she could not keep track of where she was when she looked away from the music. She had became exceptionally talented at writing her own music, as her eye tracking problem made playing written pieces a horrendous effort. She also told of her attempts to find employment.  She'd applied for employment four times, at the same place because she really wanted to work there. However, she couldn't pass certain parts of the test and each time was turned down. Writing was another area where she excelled but it seemed to stir up things within her that she just didn't understand. Sometimes those things would throw her into a psychotic episode.

After her evaluation, it was discovered there was a good deal of brain disorganization, real problems with her eye tracking ability and a significant situation with mixed dominance (for more information see the article "Learning Disabilities" on the website. In fact, as a part of her program she was requested to switch from her right to her left hand and to write only with her left hand. All humans are predisposed to a certain side of the brain as the dominant hemisphere, where we carry out logical thinking and problem solving. The evaluation revealed she was really predisposed as a left-handed person. When we go against what nature has intneded, the hand/body will respond by sending messages to the hemisphere on the opposite side in the brain. When she wrote with her right hand, the activity could cause her to slip into emotional meltdowns; she was acting not out of her logic center, but out of her emotional base. This accounts for much irrational and emotional behavior, as is seen in bi-polar individuals.

Well, there's a lot to tell about Sally, but what's happened in eight months is described by Sally herself as being miraculous.  First, her eyes now track correctly and she's playing music with ease and confidence, as she's no longer losing her place all the time and experiencing dizziness. Secondly, since she's switched her hand, her body is receiving and transmitting information correctly to the appropriate side of her brain (The dominant side is for logic, learning, etc. and the sub-dominant side is where her music, and emotions reside). She reports her frustration, emotional outbursts, depression and many bad experiences of the past have all but disappeared.  Lastly, after she felt more confident in her ability to function and take employment tests, she went back to that place of business where she really wanted to work.  Guess what?  They did hire her and even offered her a manager position! She wisely did not take that particular offer as she decided to complete her neurodevelopmental program so that she can build the foundation for success. You go girl!  Thanks for staying faithfully on the Neurodevelopmental Program!

For two decades we've witnessed our program changing lives, just like Sally's in significant ways. It's all about utilizing what God has designed. In cases where the neuro-pathways have not been functioning properly, our program simply stimulates the brain to build the needed connections, then life can be as it should be - potentially wonderful!

We just had to share Sally's new life and promise in her future.

Thank you, Lord that it's never too late to make a difference!

Brain Coach                    MATH BASICS

Recently LGS presented a webinar for teachers and parents regarding math and how we approach it.  You see we have had our Rapid Recall System out there on the market now for over six years.  Here are the results we're showing from research done in a public school first grade for addition and subtraction.

RRS -ADD

Here's what they did on subtraction (which typically first graders do not concentrate on during the year).

                    RRS-SUB

Why did these children using the Rapid Recall System out perform the other three first grade classes who were the control groups?  It has to do with the Neuro-Educational Program design.  This supplemental program is embedded with neurodevelopmental

approaches to the problem of mastery of math facts. Input that stimulates the brain in specific ways results in more neuro-connections being developed which allows for better function of memory, processing speed, and retention of information.  This program is focused on integrating the math facts information completely so the student functions with not only speed, but accuracy. This program takes about 12 weeks for each operation. (Some children go through the program faster.) Imagine students actually mastering the facts and using them from year to year instead of struggling to know them for years. We just put this program into an Oklahoma Middle School as the sixth, seventh and eighth graders (even the gifted ones) didn't know their facts quickly and accurately.

We had the opportunity to test a mentally-challenged student (diagnosed with a 40 I.Q.)who learned her math facts with the same techniques that are built into Rapid Recall System. We know that the retention of math facts lasts a lifetime with our gifted or typical students using Rapid Recall, but we had no information about this segment of the population, nor did we have a clue what her retention levels would be 15 years later.

The results even surprised the author and developer of the Rapid Recall System, Jan Bedell, The Brain Coach.  This young woman completed 33 correct problems on a one minute speed drill!  She had not done any speed drill practice for many years. Wow!

We also have had the opportunity to help a young teen,  gifted in math, but constantly getting the wrong answer because he was unable to automatically remember his math facts. His mother had purchased so many programs in an effort to resolve this issue. She wanted a money-back guarantee, if the program didn't work. We said, "If you follow the program as stated and you don't see improvement in 30 days, we'll give you your money back." She called us in a few weeks and requested we send her the rest of the operations. Her words were, "It's working; he's finally getting it! Thank you so much!"

If you wish to view and listen in on Jan's latest presentation to some educators and parents, we have recorded the hour-long webinar.  Please just click on this link and be prepared to learn:
