 Riddle Question:

I am a box that holds keys without locks, yet my keys can unlock your deepest senses. What am I?
 SEE ANSWER BELOW
Q: "My child seems to resent having to return to school studies. Do you have any suggestions?"

A:  I guess it may depend if you are home schooling as to just how much you can impact this situation.  For now, I'll assume you will be your child's teacher.

As mentioned earlier doing things with short blasts and repeating with short duration is the best way to "input" information and will be more enjoyable for the child.

However, teaching a child different subjects around a very high interest can be a way to capture their zeal for pursuing new information.  For instance, I am personally aware of a very wise mom who was having a hard time motivating her son to get with the educational program.  He loved everything about dinosaurs.  She approached reading with a "dinosaur flair".  They did all kinds of research, writing, reading, history, and even math problems with some kind of influence of dinosaurs.  As he gained basic skills and confidence in his ability to produce good work, he was able to move on to other areas of interest.  For him, it was a matter of having time to work in an area that seemed important to him, and he also was given time to mature through this resistant time. He's an excellent student today.

So, see if this might work for your son. Remember, if he's not understanding  something, the chances are he's not had enough input and reinforcement to really like what he knows. Give him the time he needs.

 ND Techniques For Students

As we gather ourselves together to support, schedule and prod our children into a new year of academic achievement, let's take a moment to slip in some practices that have been tried and tested over 40 years; ways that can increase your child's ability to process information, establish efficient neuro-pathways between their brains and bodies, and will make life easier for all concerned this school year.

One by-product of an individual (regardless of age) who is neurologically efficient is that their central nervous system tends to calm down and their production increases. When they are more satisfied with themselves and their true curiosity is not usurped by the stress of being unable to get what they know out through their vocabulary, writing and conceptual language.  So don't take these "simple" things I'm about to share with you lightly.  They can greatly impact everyone's interaction with the subject matter, as well as the relationships.

Consider this first:

The objective in making learning easier is to create an environment where there is change in function. In our case, we're looking for additional connections between the brain and body.  The branching of individual brain cells (called dendrites) grow through specific stimulation, which involves proper frequency, intensity, and duration.
  • Frequency means having enough opportunity and repetition in order for the stimulation to produce a change in the brain and become learned information.
  • Intensity refers to the input strength of the stimulation.  Is the stimulation at a level where your child is actively engaged with it, or have they tuned out because of lack of intensity?  You can drag a child through a spelling assignment, but without a high level of involvement and interaction, learning will not occur.
  • Duration has a dual meaning.
    • It refers to the time the stimulation is being given; typically, the shorter the duration the higher the intensity.  Five or ten minutes of mathematics will have a far greater impact than dragging a child through an hour of math drills.
    • It also refers to providing stimulation for the length of time it takes to produce change.

What does that mean in terms of practical application?

It means if you want to have your child get things right you must know that "INPUTTING" of information, in a short stimulating way, is king.  Trust me, if you are spending laborious amounts of time and not having any fun in teaching your child something, you have got to stop using this method. In fact, it doesn't work for anyone all that good!  You need to present material, especially new material, in a short glancing way, and leave them wanting more. Repeat the input frequently, intensely for short amounts of time. Give fast input sessions of new material several times a day.  Surprise them! When there is fun, animated bursts, they will have a better chance of keeping this information, because you are changing the function at a core level in the brain.  If the child is thrilled with the "game" their interest is higher and they, as we, will always retain high interest information better, longer and stronger.

A Challenge:

I want to challenge you.  Do this ND technique daily for several weeks and you will see remarkable changes happening before your eyes.  If you will do this consistently for several months, you will see evidence of a changed child before you who can embrace their studies and you'll begin to see an increase in their processing abilities, (short term memory) as well.  Processing abilities can be changed!  If you're seriously seeking a profound change, please order our free auditory and visual processing test kits, then follow the directions while incorporating the above information.  I've had parents report transformations in their children they didn't believe possible.  Now go have a fun and inspiring school year with your child.
Take the opportunity to get a quick snapshot of your child's functional abilities; then learn how to make things better!
