Q: "Our family is so busy, how can we get all of the activities in each day?"
A: Yes, everyone's life seems to be running at breakneck speeds these days. If you have several children in your family who are involved with sports, music, civic activities, and church I am sure it is overwhelming.
One thing you must know is that no one is perfect when it comes to "getting program done". Life happens and it is best that we take the stance; do the best you can.
We would rather have you do the program at 70-80% with you and your child relaxed and having fun, rather than trying to do things by the letter and both you and your child feeling frustrated and angry. There are no winners if this is happening. Think of this program as a marathon, rather than a sprint. Keep moving toward the goal each day as best you can travel. Settle into a routine as much as your lifestyle allows. You will see benefits if you just hang in there with the best you are capable of doing.
Liz Sweet, neuro-educational specialist, told of how she handled this "pressure" situation with her own child's program and what she recommends to clients. Liz stated, "I really look to see how the child is doing. If they seemed stressed, then we claim a "holiday" and don't do anything."
It is not productive to try to push forward, when there are things happening in their or the family's environment that will take away from interaction that is positive and fun.
As Jan Bedell stated, "Perfectionism is a curse, not a blessing." Then, Faith Haley weighed in with an absolute gem, "Remember, the devil drives, God leads!"
Oh yes, I can relate. God's order is not chaos, hectic nor with strife. That is the enemy's style. Trust in God; He will give you rest.
Get some perspective on the interaction that's going on between you and your child. Stay positive. The program will work even at less than 100%. We've got lots of moms whose children have graduated. They can attest that they were never as consistent as they hoped they'd be and certainly never perfect, but it all worked out! Their children are now being more successful than they dreamed possible. Hang in there and do the right thing; enjoy your child, this process and this journey. Most importantly, have fun (yes, you'll have to make it fun) with the opportunity to forge a wonderful relationship with your child and having a front row seat to seeing him/her become whole and functioning at the level of their God-created potential.

SUCCESS STORIES
This month we celebrated the best success story ever. Christ rose from the dead so we might have everlasting life. What a gift for all mankind!
I think it is very appropriate for us to bring the "good news" regarding the transformation of lives we've witnessed with our clients. Their parents are so key in their trek to wholeness. Here's a mom's note we so greatly appreciate:
"Still singing LGS praises to family and friends and loving what we see happening in Amelia's life and consequently as a whole family. Two things happened just on Monday and Tuesday of this week. One was a "twilight zone" type of experience with a neighbor's dog. Walking by on just a daily walk I realized, O' the neighbor's dog is here wanting to play with our dog. Their garage door was open, no one was answering the door, then I made the connection that it was the time of day for her to be at the bus stop, etc. So we just waited 'til they came home (it was a wee bit crazier than this brief description...) but through it all Amelia stayed calm, followed directions, met the other kids without any fears, and when I told her okay let's go on with our walk she came right to me without lashing out! This was the first time I felt a "normal" feeling (I think ever) with her! And I'm not exaggerating. It hit me when we got home how what could have been disastrous and totally exhausting for me was "a piece of cake"! Then yesterday we realized our doggy had a cut on one of her pads. Two part PTL: I had the energy to want to take both girls and go alone to the vet and both girls were wonderful. I didn't have Amelia sliding on the floor, twirling away, fighting against me to go "look" at something and they were quiet little "audience" members while in the exam room. Now, we missed program yesterday; mom didn't have it all together or the energy to do both yet! But what this said to me is if just getting through the neurodevelopment part of our INP once was turning out these results then O' how I long to get to everything twice! So the prayer request becomes, "Lord grant me the strength and give both girls the desire to get to the frequency and duration of our program".
A life is being reclaimed. One of control, organization and soon it will all be in place so this child can embrace the fullness of what the good Lord has created.

IMPROVE READING
If you know your child is struggling with reading, there are many helpful tools to get them up to speed and at grade level. All of the programs we have developed have been designed to work on several levels (multi-sensory) to help improve auditory and visual processing, (short term memory) discrimination, as well as verbal and tactility abilities.
VISUAL DISCRIMINATION GAME
This is another product that will shift your child's attention to encounter a game that is full of serious ability building results. There are three sets per level and ten levels of difficulty. Each level holds challenges that have life-time pay-offs producing advanced functional abilities.
|
Take the opportunity to get a quick snapshot of your child's functional abilities, then learn how to make things better!
ND SCREENINGS
A special gift for you!!! The charge for an individual screening is $15.00, and only ONE screening per family. Contact LGS or your nearest neuro-educational specialist to find out where or when the screenings are scheduled. Screenings take approximately 20-30 minutes. Test results are available in a report at an afternoon or evening seminar.
