Mary's father has 4 children; three are named Nana, Nene, and Nini. So what is is the 4th child's name?
SEE ANSWER BELOW |
Q: "My child's behavior is embarrassing! He doesn't seem to know there are other people to consider. Help!" A: All parents go through times when their children do wrong things in front of other people and it's embarrassing! After all, they come into this world totally unaware that they are not the center of the universe! They really are primitive little creatures. As I've watched my own children grow up and now seeing my grandchildren "learning the ropes" of being polite, considerate and how to extend their thoughts beyond their own needs and wants, I realize it is a situation that all of us go through, but not always at the same time of life. It's called growing up! Another reason for the kind of behavior you have mentioned, which we see in many of our clients when they first come to us, is due to lower level brain disorganization. Without the proper cross patterning activities in those early stages of growth, the child's behavior can be extremely trying, because without the ability to sequentially know, understand, and apply social morays, a child can turn to negative behavior as they get "shamed" for who they are! They can't make the distinction between their behavior and themselves as a person. Nothing is very clear, certain, or without failings and errors in most things they do. It really becomes a vicious cycle that spirals down for them. Stand back and check out your child. See if he or she is processing up to grade level or are they running behind. Have a talk with them about the things that frustrate them the most. Try to see what their daily experience is like from inside their world. Then, find someone with some experience in child behavior and share with them what's happening. See if they have some assistance for you. Children can be trained to be very delightful, social and not embarrassing. But first, take a look and see what might be at the root of the problem. If you can't solve the issue yourself, seek professional help.

GIVE THANKS TO OUR LORD
We sincerely want to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Those of us, who have been blessed with the bounties of life, are in the minority when put on a world scale. Despite many less than desirable trends and conditions of the world, most of us in the U.S. can't imagine the suffering endured by our brothers and sisters in places ruled by dictators, criminals, persistent poverty, with the inability to produce food and shelter. Indeed, for most Americans, life is about achievement and taking for granted the freedom to pursue our dreams. Basic, life-giving requirements are a given, not an exception.
As a part of our "giving back" LGS has set our sails, through our non-profit, "Steps of Hope," to minister to those who are less fortunate. For children, teens or adults who are in need of our services, we have created a scholarship fund that will be seeded by our "in-kind" donations. This is made possible by participation from people who give their support, which is tax deductible, for the impoverished suffering from learning challenges. The funding we receive will give them professional intervention. We are thankful that God has provided for us to move into helping the needy. If God lays this opportunity on your heart to assist through your church, special interest group, family group, civic groups, or boy or girls scouts, in building this scholarship fund with us, please let us know. We have a place on our website where donations can be made. Our thankfulness can be turned into a call to action. We are thankful to be in a position of service. It is through our action that lives can be changed. Please let us know if you want to get involved in this mission, and if that's not possible, please pray for those who can and will.

LGS & SCHOOLS
For Such A Time As This...
2009 has been a year of many surprises. Most things have been wonderful, but losing our dear Tanda has been most difficult. Thank goodness the Lord moves in mysterious ways and we are not to question, but to obey.
As a result, we are ready to launch Tanda's dream which was to put the LGS ND Approach into schools. She was very instrumental in getting many of the programs we've developed, classroom friendly. After she saw the improved response of her entire class, doing 68% better than the other three control group classrooms, she worked tirelessly to help bring this into reality until she went home to be with the Lord. In her honor, the conversion has been completed!
Schools are responding in ways we hadn't expected. It's become necessary for us to quickly put passionate, God-loving people in place to make sure schools are served in a timely manner. Tanda's heart for children who struggle in school will now have some of the same opportunities as our private clients, in leaving behind the struggles in learning that accompany neuro-inefficiencies.
Thank you, Tanda! Thank you, God! |

Don't Forget The Digits!
A child should be able to process the same amount of digits as their age, up to age 7. For instance, a one-year-old should be able to retain one piece of information, whether it be a number, object or word; a 2 year-old, 2 pieces; a 3 year-old, 3 pieces, etc., from age 7 to adult. We should be able to maintain 7 pieces of information, digits, words, or objects, in short-term memory. You must be able to remember 8 digits to carry on an interesting conversation and 9 digits to retain college level material. Unfortunately, with today's emphasis on only developing visual processing, we are finding more and more people having difficulty in retaining information due to their lack of auditory processing practice! What you can't hold in short-term memory cannot be stored in long-term memory. The digit spans are a wonderful exercise for the whole family! With improved memory, learning becomes easier!
