A Lesson in Anger
I had a session with John after the Health & Happiness Seminar. You might have read my article in the last newsletter, which referred to my angry reaction after attending the seminar. The anger was brought out by the seminar as a point of focus for my own health and happiness. John and I talked about anger in the session. He talked about how a person who deals with their anger appropriately could have a kind and generous result. I was having trouble grasping this concept.
It was Saturday and I was at my hairstylist having my hair colored. The last time I had my hair cut by Bryan I didn't like it and had decided to go to someone else to have my hair cut, but would have Bryan color my hair. He said it was time for a cut. I told him that I didn't want a cut and that I wasn't going to schedule a cut in the near future because I wanted to let my hair grow out again. I didn't want to tell him that I was going to someone else for a cut - I thought I was doing the more kind and generous thing by not telling him. Not the case.
He said that he was counting on the money from the cut, and that I needed to let him know when I wasn't going to cut my hair. I thought that I had told him I wasn't going to cut my hair the last time we talked. He started to get an attitude, and said that he didn't want to work on someone's hair unless they were going to take care of it, according to his standards, and get it cut every six weeks. I told him that it was his choice if he wanted to keep me as a client. I wasn't budging and said very nicely that I wasn't going to cut my hair. It got very quiet and I was quite uncomfortable the entire time that he colored my hair. And I started to get angry. Who was he to tell me, the customer, how I wanted my hair? And why was it my responsibility to help support him by paying for a haircut every six weeks? This wasn't customer service! I had thoughts that I wasn't going to come back to Bryan at all. That would teach him a lesson that if he were to treat his customers like he had me, then he'd have no money at all.
Then I sat for 45 minutes with the color on my hair and thought about my session with John. John said the way to handle anger was to recognize in yourself what was causing the anger, understand why you get angry and use it as a tool for communication. You might choose to talk about it or you might not. That way you can set boundaries and be more kind and generous. John said that in the past, at least with my ex-husband, I would withdraw, shut down and choose not to communicate. I realized that I was doing the same thing with Bryan and was determined to go down a different path. As I was paying for my hair color I told Bryan that I needed to get honest with him. I told him that I had made an appointment with someone else to cut my hair, that I respected his caring enough about my hair to want me to cut it every six weeks, and that I wanted to continue utilizing his services to only color my hair. By understanding my anger and deciding how to deal with it, telling Bryan the truth was the kind and generous thing to do. It became obvious. He said "no problem," and showed signs of relief and understanding. He said he has many clients that just come to him for color. He wanted to hug me. He felt much better. I felt much better. So I ask you, who's walking a different path now?

This system and tools assist us in using our body, mind and spirit in receiving everything we experience as feedback and information. As we allow ourselves to receive this feedback from a neutral space and own it as our own, we can then accept it from a perspective of amusement and discovery to playfully process what it means to us.
Processing life experiences in this way allows us to lovingly and gently evolve to our highest and best, responding from our purpose and supporting others. As we become more proficient and establish a state of ease and flow with these tools, our "knowing" of our body, mind and spirit connection allows us to play together with others to achieve a state of cooperation and collaboration, allowing us to awaken the love and unity from which we have been created and are to live our highest expressions together.
Everything in our life is feedback. A healthy and appropriate body, mind and spirit connection helps us to regulate and maintain a space of amusement and discovery to accept feedback from a place of neutrality, to establish and respect boundaries, process our feedback, own it and use it to heal. The feedback we experience brings out separation, fears and grievances that block our energy flow, hide our true nature and hold us in a pattern of believing we are separate, competing, victims, etc. Using these body, mind and spirit tools helps us to claim and restore our natural power and abilities to feel and express love and forgiveness and wake up to the reality of who we really are.
While many people have been exposed to this type of work in some form, what is missing are practical tools to put it "all" together to take action on our need to "Be" and "Become." Many have gotten a taste of what it can be like to be conscious and aware. This system and tools are an important bridge to help folks put it together and use their body, mind and spirit connections to heal and evolve.

A Book Review of The Michael Handbook by Jose Stevens & Simon Warwick Smith
I'm sure you have all heard John refer to the Michael system at one point or another. Michael is a causal plane teacher. The causal plane is an intellectual dimension directly "above" the astral plane, an emotional dimension. (We dwell on the lower astral plane between lifetimes.) They are a group entity consisting of 1050 souls working in cooperation who have completed their lifetimes on the physical plane. Michael is channeled by a number of people.
Michael teaches that we are eternal beings journeying from the Tao and back again in an adventure of exploration and creativity. Each step along the way, we make choices that shape our experience. After committing to a series of lifetimes on a planet, we choose one of seven roles or soul types. These are like a career or style: server, priest, artisan, sage, warrior, king, and scholar. We also form soul-level relationships by teaming up with an essence twin and task companion and finding our position within larger units such as entities and cadres.
When planning an individual lifetime, we make other choices called overleaves that form our personality and allow specific achievements. As with the roles, there are seven each of the goals, modes, attitudes, etc. We also make agreements and join with others in various configurations for a variety of purposes.
Although they deal with the large picture, the Michael teachings are grounded and relevant to our daily lives. People typically find that the insights they gain are highly useful and liberating. They help us understand why things are the way they are and how we can effectively work with them. This results in increased acceptance of ourselves and others, ultimately leading to agape, or unconditional love, our highest goal, according to Michael.
For me, the book allowed me to view others from a nonjudgmental point of view. I now see other people in a very different way and have more compassion towards others and their actions. It has allowed me to become more neutral and as John points out to us, the more neutral we become, the more grounded we become, the more psychic we can become. You can have a reading done that will identify your soul type and overleaves. Gloria recommends Shepherd Hoodwin at www.summerjoy.com.The above information was taken directly from Shepherd's website.

Foundations in Psychic Development I: Boundaries and Flow
Learning how to be aware of, and how to transform our aura transforms our love and life experiences. In this seminar, every exercise furthers the development of at least one of the two basic abilities: finding one's own psychic energy (one's own authentic impulses); and clearing blocks to progress. Students learn how to ground and run energy, how to clear blocks, how to find, clear, and repair the chakras, and how to explore deeply the entire volume and frequency range of the aura (called the layers of the aura).
|
|
Foundations in Psychic Development II:
Space, Seniority, Neutrality and Spiritual Fuel
In this two-day workshop, we will develop a deep understanding of how we use our own aura space to create our reality. We begin with psychic explorations that familiarize us with our space, and how we subdivide it through resistance to others. We can then learn to create our aura space through awareness rather than resistance. In the resulting neutrality, we become able to create our reality less and less through resistance to another, and more and more from our own spiritual fuel.
Prerequisite: Level I |
Foundations in Psychic Development III: Seeing Auras
In this two-day workshop we will explore the psychic anatomy of clairvoyance, or seeing auras; how to activate and empower this perception; and several ways to use this ability in making decisions, in healing oneself and others, and in deepening one's understanding of oneself and others. We will then move to actually doing comprehensive, systematic psychic readings in partnership with fellow students. Participants usually find they can easily increase their ability to perceive genuinely useful aura energies in just this one weekend, and that they are well started on the adventure of a lifetime.
|
Foundations in Psychic Development IV: Channeling
Learn the clairvoyant mechanics of skillful channeling -- how to prepare your space for channeling by running an ever clearer white light vibration while still owning and governing who and what occupies your space. This requires clearing psychic agreements, karma, and thought forms that distort both ordinary awareness and channeling.

Health and Happiness: Connect with Your Body!
"Avoid fried meats which angry up the blood," said baseball great, Satchel Paige. This amazing athlete was so in touch with his body that he could actually sense the health, or lack of health, of his blood stream. We also can begin tracking aspects of our body not normally available to conscious awareness such as: where in our body do we have imbalances of heat, cold, damp, etc. as spoken of in Chinese medicine; where is a there a blood vessel that could use a healing; or what "hormones" can we mentally increase or decrease for better health or mood, and how we can, in fact, influence their flow and amount.
Developing such an awareness allows us to heal ourselves and others more effectively. Great healings can be done without this kind of physical awareness by using energies of higher planes, and in other seminars we study how to access and use those higher plane energies. However, something unique and richly meaningful is added when we stretch our awareness and gain that intimacy and direct experience of the body in its own realm.
As part of this overall exploration of the body in its natural realm, we will explore how different emotional states like sadness, hunger, joy and happiness arise in the brain and body, and begin to explore how we can alter these states, to some extent, intentionally. One benefit of developing such an awareness is that we become less rigid in responding to emotional states, we become more creative, appreciative and playful with our emotions.
This seminar will allow you to begin to develop a skill set over time to connect with and benefit your body in ever deeper, more meaningful and more joyful ways.
