| "I'm Nobody! Who are You?"
Just in time for the holidays . . . a new Emily Dickinson t-shirt! The shirt was created in response to comments from teachers in our summer professional development program who wanted a new Dickinson look. So we invited them to submit ideas to add to our shop inventory.
Lisa Byerly Curtis, who teaches at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, New York, submitted the winning concept. On the shirt, Emily Dickinson peeks out over the first two lines to her well-known poem, "I'm Nobody." On the back, Dickinson winks over the words "Then there's a pair of us."

Penny Michalak, a graphic designer who has worked with the Museum on several recent projects, developed Lisa's idea into the t-shirt pictured here. Honorable mentions go to Lynette Gottlieb of Ashbrook Independent School in Corvallis, Oregon, and Kevin Wall of Etowah High School in Woodstock, Georgia.
The t-shirt is $19.95 and is available in the following styles, colors, and sizes:
Unisex --slate blue, cedar (red)
"Ladies-style"-old gold, blue iris
Kids' size-river blue
Sizes: S, M, L, X-L, XX-L
Be the first on your block to sport a new Emily Dickinson look. Visit the Museum Shop webpage to order. |
| New Dickinson Resources Available
Amherst College Archives and Special Collections has just launched a new web page introducing "Emily Dickinson at Amherst College." The new page assembles user-friendly information about the College's impressive collections of Emily Dickinson manuscripts, Dickinson-related materials, works by and about Dickinson, and more. To visit, go to www.amherst.edu/mm/278804.
The Houghton Library at Harvard University set a goal of digitizing its 500-volume collection of Dickinson family books. For an update about the progress of this project, please read the Modern Books and Manuscripts blog. Emily Dickinson valued the works of William Shakespeare as the best in the English language. The Houghton Library has now completed digitization of the Dickinsons' eight-volume 1853 edition of The comedies, Histories, Tragedies, and Poems of William Shakspere (sic). |
