THE EMILY DICKINSON MUSEUM: THE HOMESTEAD AND THE EVERGREENS AN AMERICAN LITERARY LANDMARK
A sense of place is vital to Emily Dickinson's work. That's why it is so fitting that The Big Read and the museum's spring 2009 programs coincide with the 250th anniversary of Amherst's establishment.
These programs are marked by strong collaborations with our community partners-the Jones Library, Amherst Ballet, Smith College Museum of Art, the Amherst 250th Anniversary Committee, and many of our area's writers and poets.
There are offerings for young and old, expert and novice; for those whose inspiration is drawn from literature, music, dance, art, history, and nature.
We hope this year will be an occasion for readers everywhere to become newly acquainted with or to delve more deeply into Emily Dickinson's poetry. Please join us in this celebration of her expansive and enduring legacy.
