Dear Friends and Supporters of G4TZ,
I am very excited about having finally found something we have been seeking for a long time!
Students in front of house
Students with family in front of their home.

One of the big problems many of our students face is that they have no electricity in their homes. When it comes time to do homework, it is already dark. Consequently, homework is done by the light of a kerosene lantern.  Apart from the fact that kerosene fuel is something many of our families cannot afford, kerosene fumes are a serious health hazard. Last year during our student interviews, I was struck by how many of our students were coughing as a direct result of breathing noxious fumes from kerosene lanterns in a small and poorly ventilated space.

In this technological age, we knew there had to be a solar light solution that was both affordable and  durable.  That's why we were excited to discover UNITE TO LIGHT, a non-profit organization in Santa Barbara,Unite to Light logo CA whose sole mission is to provide solar lights to students in developing countries.  This small light (pictured at left) is quite amazing!  After a day's charge in sunlight, it provides up to eight hours of continuous light with a very bright LED bulb, more than enough to get an evening's homework done! The single solar light rechargeable AA battery lasts for more than two years of recharging. I've personally tested this very sturdy, little light and can verify the claims made on the UNITE TO LIGHT website.  It's really bright and lasts for hours!

And, the best news is that the lights cost only $10.00 each!  Imagine, for the price of just two coffees from Starbucks you can Give Light to a young student in Tanzania!

During our student interviews this year, we would like to provide each of our students with a solar light.  We hope to purchase 125 lights and I'm asking for your help. I've already personally donated $100 for 10 lights because I know this will make a huge difference for our kids. Now, we need friends to step up and help us buy 115 more.  Will you help Give Light?
