Hang with Pastor Ron
All students, grades 6 through 12, are invited to have lunch with Pastor Ron on Sunday, May 3, following the 2nd service. Pastor Ron will take the group to The Red Elephant Pizza and Grille to talk about summer student activities. The group will return to the MWay Office by 2 p.m.  The cost is $5 per person.  Email Pastor Ron to sign up or if you have any questions.
Leave A Lasting Impression
We need volunteers on Sunday mornings!  One of the areas where we need help is on the First Impressions Team.

This team provides a great way for volunteers to meet people and it's easy.  This job only requires saying "hello" with a warm, friendly face that makes new folks feel welcome.  It's really an easy way to serve on Sunday mornings.

We need volunteers during both services.  Serving during the first service requires arriving at 8:30 a.m. and greeting until 10 minutes after the service begins.  Then you will be ready to greet folks as they leave the service and you will be able to attend the second service.  Or you can attend the first service and be ready to greet folks at 10:15 a.m. and then thank them for coming immediately following the service.

If you are interested in being a part of the First Impressions Team on Sunday mornings, contact Julie.
Neighborhood Bible Clubs
It's that time again!  We are in the planning stages for our 2009 Summer Neighborhood Bible Clubs, a great opportunity for outreach in our community.  Our planning team will be meeting together today, Thursday, April 30, at 4:30 p.m. at the MWay Office to begin preparing for the summer.  If you are interested in volunteering at a club or even hosting a club in your home or neighborhood, please contact Jamie.

National Day of Prayer
The 58th Annual Observance of the National Day of Prayer will be May 7.  The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.  Join thousands who are uniting on this day to pray for our nation.  Click here to learn more.

Facing the challenges of life can be difficult and at times seem overwhelming. If we are not careful, these challenges can destroy commitment, diminish hope and leave us struggling for contentment.  How do we survive in such an uncertain and difficult world? Economic Certainties
The markets go up and down like an escalator.  And with the threat of more layoffs, you wonder every day whether this will be your last day of work.  When the waves of economic uncertainty loom large, there are three certainties we can hold on to. Join us Sunday to learn about the certainties we have in God's word and in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Volunteer Profile: The Lights Guys
Josh Cockley and Greg Odenwald

Countless efforts go into the Sunday morning worship services.  Everything from running the kids areas, to music, the patio area, and even lights requires the gifts, time and talents of our members.

Josh Cockley is one of those devoted members who gives of his talents by operating the lights for the services.  Through inquiring about how the lights work, Josh learned how to run the light board and now runs the computer-operated lights system.  He's been serving in this way almost since MWay first started three years ago.

"Once I found a place to serve, I was excited about being a part of MissionWay," Josh said.

Josh's favorite things to do include hanging out with his girlfriend Melissa Ruvolo, surfing, watching and playing hockey, and traveling to Costa Rica when he gets the chance.  Josh also attends classes at FCCJ, works at The Red Elephant, and helps his family serve at Seamark Ranch.

He encourages folks who aren't sure where to serve to take a step by asking where helped is needed.  "Definitely find out where we need people and then get involved. You might not even know where or how you can serve until you ask."

Greg Odenwald got involved in much the same way. "I talked to Pastor Ron after church one day about lights, and the rest is history."

To expand on his story, Greg gave a suggestion about the stage lights, and through his conversation with Pastor Ron, found out that we had a need for direction in the technical side of operating the lights on Sunday mornings.

Working as the assistant technical director at Theatre Jacksonville, Greg has developed many skills in this area.  As the "right hand man" to the technical directors at the theater, he helps build sets and also works on special effects, light focusing/repair, and painting.

"I enjoy it because it is a way for me to give back to the community without just handing someone a check."

In addition to having his hands in the technical side of stage setup, Greg enjoys cycling and racing in triathlons.  He also likes to work theater shows as a deck hand, which is someone who works backstage behind the scenes.

Greg balances working and volunteering with spending with his time with his girlfriend, Katie Braddy, who first brought him to MWay.

Hopefully Josh and Greg's stories will inspire others to find out where their gifts and talents can be utilized to serve God and the body of Christ through MissionWay.
