Excess Baggage: Choosing to Lighten Your Load
Excess baggage often comes in the form of a destructive habit or addiction. Studies show that in the U.S., more than 22 million people struggle with some form of addiction. Chances are there is a habit in your life that you are struggling to overcome. Join us this Sunday as we continue in the series Excess Baggage by discovering how we can face the addictions in our lives and begin walking down the path of healing and wholeness. |

| 4th Sunday Donations |
In Matthew 22:39, Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as much as ourselves. We are responding to this command by starting a project that allows us to give to those in need on a regular basis. We will serve three organizations in our community: L'Arche, Seamark Ranch, and Family Promise.
Each Community Group has a list of essential items from each of these three organizations. Each Community Group member will select an item (or a few items) to be responsible for bringing on the 4th Sunday of each month. Shannon Stokes will be available on the patio before and after the service on the 4th Sunday of each month to collect all of the items. She will then gather a team to help deliver the items to these organizations each month. Contact Shannon @ ylshannonstokes@yahoo.com for more information or to sign up to donate items. |
| Serve at Seamark |
We hope you will join us in serving at Seamark Ranch, a Christ-centered children's home for abused, neglected, abandoned and homeless children. We have two opportunities for you to serve next month:
Sunday, March 1 - Provide a meal for the Sprout Family. They serve as house parents to the children and they just had a baby last week!
Saturday, March 14 - Providing a "fun day" for the kids at Seamark, including games, sports, crafts and other activities. We still need volunteers to help with each of these activities. Contact Jamie Wilbanks @ jamiewilbanks@missionwaychurch.org to volunteer. |
| Persecuted Church Workshop, March 5-7 |
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd. Cost is $50 per participant (Includes breakfast, lunch, and 2 breaks each day)
Led by a couple that has been serving in international missions for 25 years, don't miss out on this life-changing workshop. The workshop will change the way you pray, share and view how God is working in the world. Speaker Nik Ripkin has visited more than 50 countries to interview more than 600 believers living in persecution. Learn how God is moving in the midst of persecution, suffering and martyrdom, and how the church is experiencing phenomenal growth in those parts of the world. This is the last week to sign up. Click here to view a clip from the workshop. For more information, contact Jamie Wilbanks @ jamiewilbanks@missionwaychurch.org. |
| Ethiopia Team Meeting |
If God has been speaking to your heart about being involved in international missions, now is the time to take that step of faith. We are going to Ethiopia, Sept. 4-13. Led by Shannon Palmer and Matt/Jamie Wilbanks, we will serve at Destiny Academy and participate in a gospel distribution project that corresponds with the Ethiopian New Year. We will have a brief meeting to talk about the dates and costs and to answer initial questions this Sunday, Feb. 22, following tear down after the service. Contact Matt Wilbanks @ mattwilbanks@missionwaychurch.org to for more information. | |
