Baggage
Excess Baggage: Overcoming Your Past

All of us hear voices from our past. Most of those voices are good and provide encouragement for living in the present. Yet some of those voices are not good. They are the voices of hurt often resulting in the excess baggage we carry. Join us Sunday as we learn to silence the negative voices of the past and embrace the truth of God in the present.

4th Sunday Donations
Jesus has laid on our hearts His command to love our neighbors as much as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). In response to this command, we are starting a project that allows us to give to those in need on a regular basis.

Our plan is to serve three organizations in our community: L'Arche (http://www.larchejacksonville.org/), Seamark Ranch (http://seamarkranch.com/), and Family Promise (http://www.familypromisejax.org/). Each Community Group has a list of essential items from each of these three organizations. During our Community Group meetings over the next few weeks, each member will select an item (or a few items) to be responsible for bringing on the 4th Sunday of each month. Shannon Stokes will be available on the patio before and after the service on the 4th Sunday of each month to collect all of the items. She will then gather a team to help deliver the items to the organizations each month. Contact Shannon (ylshannonstokes@yahoo.com) for more information or to sign up to donate items.
Serve at Seamark
Seamark LogoSeamark Ranch is one of the main organizations we are focusing on this year. Seamark Ranch (http://seamarkranch.com/) is a Christ-centered children's home serving abused, neglected, abandoned, and homeless children. We have two opportunities for you to serve this quarter:
Sunday, March 1 - Provide a meal for the Sprout Family. This family serves as house parents to the children and is expecting a baby later this month.
Saturday, March 14 - Provide a "fun day" for the kids at Seamark, including games, sports, crafts and other activities.
We need volunteers to help with each of these activities. Please contact Jamie Wilbanks (jamiewilbanks@missionwaychurch.org) to volunteer.
The Gift of "Living Water"
Living WaterIn December we took up $4,164 for the Advent Conspiracy Missions Offering. A portion of that money, about $1,000, is going to Living Water International to help rebuild a well in Haiti that was destroyed during the hurricanes last year.Click here to learn more about the Living Water International project and how they are working to build and rebuild wells in Haiti and other countries as a way to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ-God's "living water"-to lost people around the world.

Financial PeaceMost of us struggle with financial issues at some point in our lives. We don't always recognize that the Bible has a great deal to say about how we handle our personal finances. If you are looking for a way to achieve your financial goals as you eliminate debt, build wealth, and give generously, you won't want to miss Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University workshop.

This 13-week workshop begins Sunday, Feb. 15, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the MissionWay Office. Click here to learn more. Matt Kramer will be the primary facilitator. The cost for the book is $98. If you are interested in participating but need financial assistance in purchasing the book, we have resources available to help you participate in the workshop. Contact Matt Kramer @ 819.5453 to sign up today.

Volunteer at Nease
We are thankful for our friends at Nease and all they do to allow us to worship there on Sundays. We need your help in giving back. We need several volunteers who are willing to help proctor the upcoming FCAT exams at Nease on March 10, 11 or 12. Volunteering requires 1 to 3 hours of your time to assure that all goes well during this critical testing period. Contact Paula Gaskin, Nease volunteer coordinator, @ 285.8772 to sign up.
