| This Week at MissionWay... |
God is relational and he created us as relational beings. He created us to need people in our lives, to know and to be known. Yet many people struggle in their relationships with other people and as a result experience a big emptiness called loneliness. Even in a world full of people many experience what sociologists call "crowded loneliness", a condition where we are surrounded by a crowd of people, but we have few real genuine connections with the people around us. The antidote to this kind of loneliness is community. Join us Sunday as we discover how to regain momentum in our relationships through authentic community. |

| Don't Miss Out! |
To help us kick off this New Year with energy and excitement, January 25th will be our "high attendance service". We encourage you to invite family and friends to join us on the 25th as we learn about "Momentum in My Church" and make important commitments to help us grow and gain momentum. This will be a special service, so plan to be there!

| Momentum Series: Momentum in My Walk with God |
|
"The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." 2 Chronicles 16:9 On Sunday Pastor Ron taught about the importance of gaining and maintaining momentum in our lives, especially in our spiritual walks. We learned about what kind of impact that could have on us as individuals, on the life of our church, and on the Kingdom of God. We completed a "Commitment Measurement" to help us better understand where we are on our scale of being fully engaged in our walk with God. We also wrote down one step we will take to be more committed to God. Finally, we discussed some steps we could take toward gaining momentum. We hope that you will take some time out this week to consider what God is saying to you about making commitments in your life that will lead to new momentum in your walk with the Lord. MY NEXT STEPS... --Memorize 2 Chronicles 16:9 --Share my commitment score and action step with a friend --Begin a daily quiet time --Attend worship regularly |

| Gaining Financial Peace |
The Bible has many interesting things to say about money, debt, and personal finance. We are offering a 13-week workshop led by Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. The workshop provides a biblically based accountability curriculum that teaches you how to manage God's money and resources in a godly way. It empowers you to make financial decisions to achieve your financial goals by eliminating debt, building wealth, and giving generously. The workshop will begin on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the MissionWay Office, and will meet on Sundays for 13 weeks. We will announce the time next week. Matt Kramer and Pastor Ron will be the primary facilitators. The cost for the book is $98*. This is a small amount to pay when "on average, families reduce their debt by $5,300 and save $2,700 in just 91 days." We are also looking for several volunteers who could help with the workshops. If you are interested in helping to facilitate the workshop, or if you would like to sign up to participate, contact Matt Kramer. *If you are interested in participating but need financial assistance in purchasing the book, please let us know by contacting Matt Kramer. |
| L'Arche Harbor House |
This year we are offering many opportunities for you to get involved in serving our local community. During our service last week, we heard about L'Arche Harbor House. This is a local faith-filled residential community for adults with developmental disabilities and the caring assistants who choose to live with them as family. The Harbor House depends on a dedicated staff, active community volunteers, and benefactors to help them care for their residents.
Their facilities include five homes, a community center, and The Rainbow Workshop, an off-campus day program that nurtures creativity and personal growth. L'Arche volunteers have an opportunity to serve in many capacities, including short-term house assistants, artists and aides at the Rainbow, members of the Board / Auxiliary Board / committees or as friends and visitors. If you are interested in helping L'Arche Harbor House, you can purchase a 2009 calendar for $15. These beautiful calendars include artwork created by the residents, as well as their stories. Contact Julie Henderson for more information.
