THIS WEEK @ MISSIONWAY
A Different Kind of Love
In Matthew's account of Christ's birth, he tells of Magi who went to great lengths to discover who the Christ was. These wealthy astrologers were willing to travel the globe, betray a king, and give their treasures in worship of the Christ child. Why would such learned and respected men abandon everything in the pursuit of a baby? Could it be they understood what Jesus had given up for their benefit? Join us Sunday as we continue in our Advent Conspiracy series by reflecting on the magnitude of Christ's sacrifice in coming into the world to demonstrate a different kind of love. This series is designed to help us live true to the story of Christ's birth by spending less, giving more, loving all, and worshiping fully. Dec. 21 - A Different Kind of Worship |
How MissionWay is Joining Advent Conspiracy
MissionWay's goal through Advent Conspiracy is to spend less on ourselves this Christmas and give more to help others--globally and locally.
Mission Offering Goal: $6,000* · $2,500: Ethiopia - Projector for Education Resource Center and support for families working in Addis · $3,000: Haiti - Rebuilding a well that was damaged during the hurricanes earlier this year · $500: Young Life - Helping local students from Nease go to camp next summer *This special offering will be taken up on Sunday, December 21. You can also give online, mail your contribution directly to MissionWay or place it in the offering plate on any Sunday. |

Join us in giving to our local community this Christmas by participating in "The Christmas Store." This store will allow the families at The Oaks Apartments to purchase Christmas gifts for a fraction of the item's original price. The store will be located at the MissionWay office and will be open on Saturday, Dec. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 21. Last Sunday an additional 23 ornaments were taken off The Christmas Store tree, bringing our total number of "adopted" children to 83! That means we are more than half-way to our goal with only 67 children remaining. Also, we received financial donations of nearly $400. Praise God for this great progress! This week we are asking folks who are interested in helping to purchase three $10 toys or three $5 gifts for a mom/dad. Visit our Website for helpful gift giving ideas, or you could choose to make a financial donation at The Christmas Store table on Sunday. All the funds we receive will go toward the purchase of gifts for those children who have not yet been "adopted." Please don't forget to bring all your gifts to The Christmas Store table on the patio THIS Sunday. They can be dropped off either before or after the service. |
Giving More this Christmas Season Have you had the chance to contact your friends and family to tell them about this amazing event? Let's make sure to let others know how we can all help make this holiday season special by being a part of The Christmas Store. You can direct friends and family to our website for more information about the store and how they too can get involved. Have you thought about your Christmas list and those people who might be hard to buy for or have it all? Make a donation to The Christmas Store in their honor. We have cards available for you to send them with information about the meaningful donation you have made on their behalf. See our table on the patio for more information. This year we are all cutting back because of our country's economic struggles. But that doesn't change the joy of simple giving. Someone recently said, "Our wallets might be smaller, but our hearts are bigger this Christmas season."
Nease Faculty Breakfast We Need Volunteers!
We are hosting a faculty breakfast at Nease this coming Monday, Dec. 15, beginning at 8:30 a.m. We still need a few volunteers to prepare and bring breakfast casseroles and fruit. We also need a few more volunteers to help set up, serve breakfast, and break down. If you are able to help, please bring your dish to church on Sunday, Dec. 14, or drop it off at Pastor Ron's house on Sunday afternoon or early Monday morning. Set up will begin at 8 a.m. at Nease. Contact Jamie to volunteer. |

| Stewardship Commitments Update
Last month we, as the Body of Christ at MissionWay, made commitments of our gifts, talents, services and finances to the Lord through turning in our commitment cards. Many families turned in pledges for a commitment of $249,600 for 2009. We are still waiting to hear from some of our MissionWay families. Don't forget to turn your cards in by mailing them to our office or dropping them in the offering plate this Sunday. |
Christmas Eve Service Baptist Health South
MissionWay volunteers will continue the tradition of hosting a Christmas Eve service at Baptist South for all staff, patients and visitors. This year, as one of our local service projects through Advent Conspiracy, we are asking volunteers to be a part of a worship service on Christmas Eve. You can help by coming out to carol at the hospital and being a part of the worship service. Caroling begins at 5:30 p.m. and the service begins at 6 p.m.
