This Week @ MissionWay
New Series Begins: Real Treasure Real Faith
With the stock market hitting record lows, financial institutions closing, home values falling and a looming recession many are anxious about the future. Many are unsure about which way to turn. Join us for an honest look at what the Bible says about how money and faith are inseparably linked and how we can find certainty in these uncertain times! The series will focus on how MissionWay is responding to these challenging times with life changing ministry.
We kick off the series with special guests James and Jennifer Lyles. The Lyles live and work in Addis Abba, Ethiopia and serve as a valuable resource to MissionWay's work in Ethiopia. They have assisted in shaping our vision for being Christ's light to the Ethiopian people, helping us understand the culture, strategic planning, ministry logistics and prayer support.
Messages in the Series: November 09 The Good Life - Matthew 5:1-16 November 16 Treasure Keeping - Matthew 6:19-24 November 23 Expressing Generosity - Matthew 6:1-4 |
Serving at MissionWay Where can you plug in?
Thinking about stepping up your commitment to MissionWay? Maybe joining one of the teams you've seen on Sunday mornings? We are here to help you find a way to get involved and connect. In the coming weeks, we'll be highlighting some of our teams and the type of work they do. This week: Treasury and Food!
The Treasury Team has two main responsibilities each Sunday: collect/count the offering and take attendance. Each Sunday, two volunteers collect the offering during the Sunday service. Then they spend 10 - 20 minutes after the service counting the offering. This is a great match for you if you enjoy financial responsibility, attention to detail and working in teams. Taking attendance is simple! Half-way through the Sunday service, one volunteer counts the people in the worship service and in the Children's Ministry classrooms. It takes about five minutes. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, contact Melissa Kramer. A really important part of our fellowship is the Food Team which provides snacks for our set-up team, members and guests on Sunday mornings. Many people have commented that the food is a unique, welcoming touch at MissionWay, especially for newcomers. Volunteers bring snacks two times per quarter. We have two people bring food each Sunday, so you don't have to supply all the food on your week! We ask that each person brings enough to feed about 30 people a few different items. We like to have the food ready to serve by 9:30am. People who like to bake have the opportunity to share this skill with others and those who don't are welcome to pick up cookies, fruit or other pre-made items. You can sign up as a team of two or individually and we'll pair you with someone. You will receive an e-mail earlier in the week to remind you of your commitment. If you can help, please email Kathleen Shaw.
We encourage you to think about how you can apply your skills and volunteer your time to our "internal work". If you aren't sure about a fit or are open to filling any need, call our office and we'll help you find a good match! | |
MissionWay's 2009 Financial Plan MissionWay's vision team and staff have been hard at work developing MissionWay's 2009 ministry priorities and financial plan. We are setting aside time on Sunday November 23 to present these plans, allow MissionWay to understand, ask questions, give feedback and commit to the work that God has called us to do. Beginning at 9am we will have an informational meeting for you to meet some of our vision team members and get more information on these priorities and plans. Then, during our worship service, MissionWay will be given the opportunity to make personal commitments to support the work that God has called us to do. |
We are holding our next Parent & Child Dedication Service on Sunday, November 23. The service is an opportunity for parents to publicly declare their intention to raise their child to know God and develop a relationship with Him. It is also a time for us to declare our support for them in this important task. If you would like to dedicate your child or have questions, call Pastor Ron at 612.8087. |

Seamark this Saturday, Nov 9
We need 8 to 10 people Saturday, November 9 from 9am to 12pm to help sand, scrape and stain 5 sets of outdoor steps at Seamark's Boys home. Bring extension cords, power strips, and brushes/rags for staining, and orbital or vibrating sanders with 50 and 100 grit sand paper. Belt sanders are welcome but the user needs to be proficient at it so as not to damage the steps. Contributions to purchase the stain and sand paper are welcomed. Contact Dale Cockley (dcockley@gmail.com) to volunteer, contribute or to get more information. |
